ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND PILOT NOTICED OIL LEAKING ON COWLING. ENGINE WAS SECURED AND A UNEVENTFUL LANDING MADE. MAINT FOUND CYL NR 4 HAVING BROKEN STUDS AND CYLINDER STARTING TO SEPARATE FROM ENGINE. ALSO FOUND ROCKER BOX COVER SCREWS LOOSE/MISSING. ENGINE REMOVED FOR REPAIR. (K)
50 MILES OUT OF HOME BASE, PILOT HEARD A (POP) CAME FROM LEFT ENGINE, THEN NOTICED OIL PRESSURE START THE FALL. FEATHERED PROP AND SECURED ENGINE. MADE A UNEVENTFUL LANDING. INSP FOUND NR 4 CYLINDER ON L/E DDEPARTED FROM ENGINE AND NR 4 ROD BROKEN. SUSPECT EITHER ROD BOLTS FAILED OR IMPROPERLY TORQUED, OR CYLINDER IMPROPERLY TORQUED. ENGINE COMPLETE LOSS. (K)
RT ENGINE WAS STARTED AND PILOT NOTICED LOW OIL PRESSURE. INSTALLED ANOTHER GAUGE IN LINE TO VERIFY PROBLEM RAN ENGINE, OIL PRESSURE CERTIFIED LOW. CHANGED OIL AND INSPECTED FILTER. FOUND NO OBVIOUS PROBLEMS, STARTED ENGINE, HAD NO OIL PRESSURE, PULLED RELIEF VALVE. DETERMINED THAT SOMETHING INSIDE THE ENGINE WAS COMING APART. REMOVED ENGINE TO SEND BACK TO ENGINE OVERHAULER. (K)
