AN IN-FLIGHT SHUT DOWN OF THE LT ENGINE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE POWER SECTION. AT THE TEAR DOWN, THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE NR 1 SUN GEAR AS BEING THE MODE OF FAILURE.

AIRCRAFT LEFT PROP FEATHERED AT LIFT OFF AT DIA. RETURNED TO GATE WITHOUT INCIDENT FOUND BETA SYSTEM OUT TO RIG. FOUND BETA VALVE STICKING ALL THE WAY OUT. SUSPECT BETA CABLE WAS STRETCHED. RERIGGED BETA SYSTEM AND RETURNED TO SERVICE.
