DURING CRUISE, CREW REPORTED AN INTERMITTENT FIRE WARNING INDICATION ON NR 1 ENGINE, WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY TURNED INTO A STEADY INDICATION. FOLLOWED PROCEDURES IN THE AFM IN ORDER TO CONFIRM OR EXCLUDE VALIDITY OF INDICATION. DETERMINED INDICATION WAS FALSE. MX VERIFIED THAT THE FIRE WAS FALSE, AND TROUBLESHOT THE DETECTION SYSTEM. A BONDING LEAD POSITIONED TOO CLOSE TO THE LOOP "A" TERMINAL WAS FOUND TO BE THE PROBLEM. THE BONDING LEAD WAS REPOSITIONED TO ADD CLEARANCE. CONTINUITY, RESISTANCE AND FUNCTION CHECKS IAW AMM INDICATE NORMAL FUNCTIONALITY.
DURING CRUISE, FLIGHT CREW REPORTED INTERMITTENT FIRE WARNING ON NR 2 ENGINE. FLIGHT CREW FOLLOWED PROCEDURES IN AFM IN ORDER TO CONFIRM OR EXCLUDE VALIDITY OF INDICATION. FLIGHT CREW DETERMINED INDICATION WAS FALSE. MX TROUBLESHOT SYS AND DETERMINED THAT WITH ENGINE COWLING CLOSED, FIRE DETECTION LOOP RAIL 2 WAS INTERMITTENTLY SHORTING ON ACCY GEAR BOX. MX REPOSITIONED LOOP TO ALLOW INCREASED CLEARENCE BETWEEN GEARBOX AND 5 LOOP. FUNCTION CHECKS OF THE SYS INDICATE NORMAL OPERATION. THERE ARE NO DEFECTIVE PARTS INVOLVED.

FLIGHT CREW DETERMINED INDICATION WAS FALSE. MX VERIFIED THAT THE INDICATION OF THE FIRE WAS INDEED FALSE, AND TROUBLESHOT THE DETECTION SYS AND IN AN ATTEMPT TO ISOLATE THE FAULT SWAPPED NR 1 AND NR 2 ENGINE FIRE DETECTION CONTROL BOX AND FUNCTION TESTED SYS IAW AMM. AT THIS TIME, SYS IS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY AND NO SPECIFIC PART HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED.
