PILOT REPORTED THE OVERHEAD EMERGENCY EXIT SIGN NOT ILLUMINATING PROPERLY. MX R & R INVERTER AND OPS CHECKED GOOD. ACFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
PILOT REPORTED DURING DESCENT AROUND 14,000 FT THE ODOR OF SMOKE AND FUMES IN COCKPIT FOR ABOUT ONE MINUTE. ALL THREE CREW DONNED O2 MASKS NEVER SAW SMOKE JUST SMELLED IT AND IRRITATED EYES. MX PERFORMED A GVI OF BOTH ENGINES INLETS AND EXHAUSTS FOR OIL LEAKS NO FAULTS FOUND. PERFORMED ENGINE RUNS AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE ODOR OR SIGNS OF SMOKE. ACFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
DURING MX INSPECTION, DISCOVERED THE EMERGENCY EXIT SIGN AT SEAT 3C WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. MX R & R NR 2 EMERGENCY LIGHT INVERTER, OPS CHECKED GOOD. ACFT APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
CREW REPORTED SMOKE IN COCKPIT IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKEOFF AND PERFORMED AIR TURN BACK. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED ACFT AND DETERMINED THE ACFT WAS DE-ICED PRIOR TO TAKEOFF AND FOUND DE-ICE FLUID IN BOTH ENGINE INLETS. MAINTENANCE REMOVED FLUID AND RAN ENGINES AND PACKS WITH NO SMOKE NOTED. ACFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
DURING MAINTENANCE INSPECTION, THE LT FUSELAGE SKIN AFT OF THE PAX DOOR BETWEEN STRINGERS 13 & 14L AND FRAMES 21-22 FOUND TO BE GOUGED BEYOND LIMITS. MAINTENANCE REMOVED THE DAMAGE AND PERFORMED A FILLER-DOUBLER REPAIR IAW SRM 53-21-01, AND THE ACFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
DURING GROUND OPERATIONS, THE CREW NOTED A SMOKE ODOR IN CABIN AND ELECTED TO RETURN TO THE GATE. MAINTENANCE DETERMINED THE SOURCE OF THE SMOKE TO BE THE RT COFFEE BREWER. THE BREWER WAS REPLACED, OPS CHECKS PERFORMED AND THE DISCREPANCY CLEARED.
DURING 2A INSPECTION, THE RT WHEELWELL AFT RIB WAS FOUND TO HAVE MULTIPLE CRACKS. MX REMOVED THE CRACKED SECTION OF RIB AND PERFORMED A FILLER & DOUBLER REPAIR IAW EC5320-01974 AND THE ACFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
DURING 2A INSPECTION, FUSELAGE SKIN WAS FOUND TO BE CRACKED FR 42 BELOW S2R. MX REMOVED THE DAMAGE AND PERFORMED EC5330-02353, AND ACFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
DURING PREFLIGHT INSPECTION, THE CREW REPORTED THAT THE RT EXTERIOR EMERGENCY LIGHT WAS INOPERATIVE. MX R & R THE NR 4 EMERGENCY LIGHT POWER SUPPLY, OPERATIONALLY TESTED WITH NO DEFECTS, AND THE ACFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.

IAH - ON DESCENT THE CREW REPORTED HEARING A LOUD GRINDING NOISE SEEMING TO COME FROM THE FWD AVIONICS COMPARTMENT (BEHIND THE CAPTS LEFT FOOT PEDAL) ASSOCIATED WITH A BURNING SMELL. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT IAH WITHOUT INCIDENT WHERE MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE AVIONICS COMPARTMENT WITH NO DEFECTS OR SMELL NOTED, AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
IAH - FLIGHT 2857 THE CREW REPORTED A BURNING SMELL AFTER TAKE OFF. THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO IAH WHERE IT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT, AND REMOVED AND REPLACED A BURNT SLEEVE ON THE NUMBER TWO PACK DUAL TORQUE MOTOR, OPERATIONALLY AND LEAK CHECKED WITH NO DEFECTS, AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
FLIGHT 2142 - MKE - FLIGHT CREW REPORTED BURNING RUBBER SMELL IN THE COCKPIT, EICAS SCREEN WENT DARK AND C/B POPPED. MX REMOVED AND REPLACED EICAS DISPLAY UNIT, RESET THE C/B AND PERFORMED OPERATIONAL CHECK SUCCESSFULLY. ACFT WAS APPROVED TO RETURN TO SERVICE.

FLT 9 - COS TO ONT - FLIGHT CREW REPORTED BAG SMOKE INDICATION IN-FLIGHT. CONTRACT MX PERSONEL INSPECTED CARGO COMPARTMENT AND NO ABNORMALITIES WERE NOTED. AIRCRAFT WAS RELEASE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MEL 26-15-00 CAT -C- CONTROL 126970. WHEN AIRCRAFT ARRIVED TO ONT, EXPRESSJET MX PERSONEL REMOVED THE FWD AND THE AFT BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT SMOKE DETECTORS (FWD: P/N 473597-13, S/N 1777 TSN 14842 CSN 11464 TSO 14842. AFT:P/N 47359-13, S/N 2935 TSN 10975 CSN 8517 TSO 10975) AND REPLACED THEM. OPERATIONALLY CHECK WITH NO DEFECTS AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS APPROVED TO RETURN FOR SERVICE.
