Maintenance disclosures
DURING A PHASE INSPECTION, THE LEFT CROSSOVER TUBE WAS POUND CHAFED BY THE ENGINE MOUNT TRUSS (PN 102-910026-131). THE CHAFING WAS APPROXIMATELY HALFWAY THROUGH THE WALL THICKNESS. WE HAVE A SPECIAL INSPECTION TO CHECK THE HEATSHIELD FOR CHATING IN THIS SAME AREA, OTHERWISE THIS WOULD HAVE PROBABLY BEEN MISSED DUE TO ITS INACCESSIBILITY BEHIND THE INDUCTION FILTER HOUSING, THE PART WILL BE REPLACED TO SEE IF A DIFFERENT TUBE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. OTHER AIRCRAFT IN THE FLEET WERE CHECKED WITHOUT DEFECTS NOTED.(K)
ENGINE OIL FOUND LEAKING FROM WING ROOT/FUSELAGE JUNCTION AT LEADING EDGE. LEADING EDGE REMOVED. FOUND ALUMINUM OIL PRESSURE GAUGE LINE CHAFFED THROUGH FROM CONTACT WITH INBOARD RIB OF 102-100026-602 LEADING EDGE FAIRING ASSEMBLY. RECOMMEND INSPECTING OIL PRESSURE GAUGE LINE AT INBOARD END WHERE IT ATTACHES TO BULKHEAD FITTING AT FUSELAGE FOR EVIDENCE OF CONTACT WITH ADJACENT STRUCTURE.
AT THE 1,000-HOUR STRUCTURAL INSPECTION BEING DONE BY UNITED BEECHCRAFT ONTARIO, FINDING CRACKS IN THE FRAME AT STATION 107.000 FRAME, PN 102-430241-1, AT THE END OF SPLICE, PN 102-430196-3. ALL THE AIRCRAFT THAT ARE BEING FOUND WITH CRACKS ARE IN THE 300 S/N'S AND HAVE 4 MISSING RIVETS. THE AIRCRAFT WITH S/N IN THE 400 SERIES HAVE RIVETS INSTALLED AND NO CRACKS. THE 1,000-HOUR STRUCTURAL INSPECTION IS A REQUIRED INSPECTION BY THE U. S. FOREST SERVICE ON THEIR BARON 58P'S.
