SMELL OF BURNING WIRES AND WHISP OF SMOKE OBSERVED BEHIND LANDING GEAR HANDLE.
WHILE ON APPROACH TO MHT PILOT ATTEMPTED TO EXTEND LANDING GEAR FOR LANDING AND DID NOT GET AN INDICATION FOR THE NOSE GEAR BEING DOWN AND LOCKED. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RETRACT AND EXTEND GEAR AGAIN WITH SAME RESULT. PILOT DID A GO AROUND AND TRIED TO REPLACE BULB WITH NO CHANGE. PILOT FOLLOWED EMERGENCY CHECKLIST AND PUMPED GEAR DOWN AND PERFORMED LANDING WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED AIRCRAFT AND DETERMINED THAT THE CONNECTOR FOR THE DOWNLOCK INDICATION LIGHTS WAS LOOSE. CONNECTOR WAS INSPECTED AND RE-SECURED AND SYSTEM TESTED PER APPROPRIATE MANUAL. ALL CHECKS SATISFACTORY. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
APPROX 20 MILES SOUTH, DURING DESCENT THE PILOT NOTED A LOUD NOISE AND THE ACFT SHUTTERED. ALL INSTUMENTS AND FLIGHT CONTROLS REMAINED NORMAL. THE PILOT SLOWED TO 160KTS AS A PRECAUTION AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. VISUAL INSP REVEALED THAT THE AFT AERODYNAMIC FAIRING SECTION OF THE UNDERBELLY CARGO POD HAD DEPARTED THE ACFT. MX REMOVED THE REMAINING PIECES OF FAIRING, REPAIRED THE DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE AND INSTALLED A SERVICABLE FAIRING. THE ACFT WAS THEN RETURNED TO SERVICE.
FLIGHT 10271 MHT-PWM ON APPROACH PILOT SELECTED GEAR DOWN AND DID NOT GET A GREEN LIGHT FOR THE NOSE GEAR. THE GEAR IN TRANSIT LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE PILOT CYCLED THE GEAR AND RECEIVED THE SAME INDICATION. THE PILOT ADVISED THE CONTROL TOWER AND PERFORMED A LOW APPROACH. THE TOWER VISUALLY VERIFIED THE GEAR WAS DOWN. THE PILOT THEN MADE AND APPROACH AND LANDING WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT AND WAS TOWED TO PARKING BY RAMP PERSONNEL. MAINTENANCE EVALUATED THE AIRCRAFT AND REMOVED AND REPLACED SWITCH PN100-381006-1 (ALT PN 1CH-25). MAINTENANCE PERFORMED SEVERAL OPERATIONAL CHECKS OF THE GEAR WITH NO FURTHER DISCREPANCIES NOTED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.
FLIGHT 1046 MHT-PQI UPON SELECTING GEAR DOWN THE NOSE GEAR GREEN LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE AND THE IN-TRANSIT LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE PILOT EXECUTED A GO-AROUND, ATTEMPTED TO CYCLE THE GEAR AND EXECUTED THE EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENSION CHECKLIST. THE PILOT THEN NOTIFIED ATC OF THE SITUATION AND DECLARED AND EMERGENCY. THE PILOT ALSO MADE A LOW PASS AT THE AIRPORT AND WITNESSES REPORTED THE NOSE GEAR DOWN, NOT OFFSET AND WAS NOT MOVING. THE PILOT THEN LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE EVALUATED THE AIRCRAFT, ADJUSTED THE NOSE LANDING GEAR DOWNLOCK SWITCH 1.5 TURN AND CYCLED THE GEAR MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO FURTHER DISCREPANCIES NOTED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.
