CREW REPORTED THAT IN CRUISE AT FL 340, RT OIL PRESSURE LOW LIGHT CAME ON, GAUGE INDICATIONS BACKED UP LIGHT INDICATION, OIL PRESSURE ZERO, OIL TEMP WENT TO ZERO, OIL QUANTITY DROPPED FROM 16 QTS TO APPROX.. 5 QTS. THEY PERFORMED COM PROCEDURE THROUGH PRECAUTIONARY SHUTDOWN, DECLARED EMERGENCY WITH ATC, DIVERTED TO KLIT, SENT MESSAGE TO OPS. KLIT WEATHER WAS VMC ILS 22R APPROACH AND LANDING WERE WITHOUT INCIDENT. CORRECTIVE ACTION: USA JET MAINTENANCE AT KLIT INSPECTED ENGINE AND CHECKED OIL QUANTITY LEVEL AND FOUND LOW. THEY REMOVED AND REPLACED THE NR 2 ENGINE WITH A SERVICEABLE ENGINE IAW USA JET GMM VOL 2 72.00.1. PERFORMED OPS AND LEAK CHECKS BOTH GOOD. TRIM RUNS COMPLIED WITH IAW USA JET GMM 72.00.18 AND DC9 MM 71-00. AND FOUND NO DEFECTS AT THIS TIME. REMOVED ENGINE WAS SENT TO OSCODA ENGINE SERVICES FOR TEARDOWN AND ANALYSIS. PRELIMINARY TEARDOWN REPORT INDICATES THAT THE FORWARD BEARING ON THE MAIN GEARBOX FOR THE STARTER SHAFT FAILED.

MAINTENANCE DISCOVERED AND REPAIRED NUMEROUS SMALL AIR LEAKS. THE RT PACK HAD BEEN DEFERRED PREVIOUS TO THIS FLIGHT. LT PACK HAD OVER TEMPED AND SHUTDOWN IN CRUISE. MAINTENANCE FOUND 2 EA MOUNTING SCREWS LOOSE ON LT ANTICIPATOR. SECURED LT ANTICIPATOR MOUNTING SCREWS IAW MM 36-10-6. LEAK CHECK IS GOOD. VERIFIED AIR LEAK AT AFT PIT DOOR STOP SCREW. SEALED AFT PIT LOWER DOOR STOP SCREW IAW MM 20-30-0. LEAK CHECK IS GOOD. SEALED FORWARD PIT DOOR UPPER FORWARD CORNER IAW MM 20-30-0. LEAK CHECK IS GOOD. SEALED L1 DOOR LATCH HANDLE IAW MM 20-30-0. RECONNECTED SENSE LIE DISCONNECTED FOR DEACTIVATING RT PACK PREVIOUSLY DEFERRED. REPLACED CABIN TEMP SENSOR, SYSTEM SHUTDOWN THERMAL SWITCH IAW MM 21-31-11. OPS AND LEAK CHECK IS GOOD. REPLACED LT TEMP CONTROL VALVE AND POSITION INDICATOR ASSEMBLY IAW MM 21-61-1. REPLACED LT CABIN TEMP CONTROLLER FOR COMPANY CONVENIENCE IAW MM 21-60-0. OPS AND LEAK CHECK IS GOOD. REPLACED AIR CONDITIONING AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF SWITCH FOUND BAD DURING OPS CHECK OF CABIN TEMP SENSOR. SWITCH OPS CHECKED GOOD IAW MM 21-31-9. REPLACED CLIMB PRESSURE SWITCH IAW MM 21-31-9. OPS AND LEAK CHECK WAS GOOD IAW MM 21-31-9. PERFORMED TEST OF AIR CONDITIONING AND PRESSURIZATION SYSTEM IAW MM 21-32-0. OPS TEST WAS GOOD.

CREW RESTORED ELECTRICAL POWER AND NO COMPONENTS, EXCEPT FOR LT GENERATOR AND AC CROSS-TIE LOCKOUT, EFFECTED, WITH ALL BUSSES POWERED. CREW CANCELED EMERGENCY WITH ATC AND CONTINUED TO DESTINATION. ACFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE REPLACED THE LT ENGINE GENERATOR IAW MM 24-10-1. NR 1 GENERATOR SYSTEM OPERATIONALLY CHECKED GOOD IAW MM 24-20-1. THE DMI WAS CLEARED AND THE ACFT RETURNED-TO-SERVICE.
