FLIGHT 1062 MHT-RUT ON APPROACH FOR RWY 31 THE PILOT SELECTED GEAR DOWN BUT NO GEAR LIGHTS WERE OBSERVED. THE PILOT ABORTED THE APPROACH. AFTER CLIMBOUT THE PILOT NOTED THE GEAR CB HAD POPPED. THE PILOT RESET THE CB AND RETURNED THE GEAR TO THE UP POSITION. ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT AT EXTENDING THE GEAR THE RED GEAR IN TRANSITION LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND THE CB HAD POPPED AGAIN AND WOULD NOT RESET. THE PILOT EXECUTED THE EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION CHECKLIST AND RECEIVED THREE GREEN LIGHTS AND THE PILOT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT, JACKED THE AIRCRAFT AND PERFORMED 8 GEAR SWINGS WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ISSUES A FERRY FLIGHT PERMIT AND WAS POSITIONED DOWN TO MHT FOR FURTHER EVALUATION. FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED A FAULT TO GROUND NEW WIRE WAS RAN AND TEST RELAY DIODE P/N 1N4007 WAS REPLACED. OPERATIONS OF GEAR CHECKED GOOD AFTER REPAIR AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

ATA 2450

DURING A CHECK RIDE POWER TO THE LT BUS FAILED, THE NR 1 INVERTER FAILED AND THE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND. THE PILOTS LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR MANUALLY USING THE EMERGENCY CHECKLIST AND LANDED IN MHT WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE EVALUATION DISCOVERED A DIODE SHORTED OUT AND BURNED THROUGH AND MELTED TERMINAL RING AT THE HEAD SINK FOR DUAL BUS DIODES. ALSO DISCOVERED BOTH CURRENT LIMITERS OPEN ON LT BUS CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF POWER TO ALL SYSTEMS ON THE LT BUS. REMOVED AND REPLACED BOTH CURRENT LIMITERS, DIODE, RING TERMINAL AND HEAT SINK PLATE. PERFORMED OPERATIONAL TEST OF ALL REQUIRED SYSTEMS INCLUDING GEAR SWINGS AND INVERTER TESTS. NO DEFECTS NOTED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

FLIGHT 1203 DEPARTED BGR-MHT. JUST AFTER REACHING CRUISE THE GEAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE GEAR WARNING HORN CAME ON WITH GEAR SELECTOR IN UP POSITION. THE PILOT CYCLED THE GEAR BUT AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE WARNING LIGHTS AND HORN SOUNDED AGAIN. THE PILOT LOWERED THE GEAR AND CONTINUED THE FLIGHT WITH THE GEAR DOWN AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTION REVEALED THE PROBLEM STOPPED WHEN TERMINAL 1 WAS REMOVED FROM THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE. MAINTENANCE DISCONNECTED AND CLEANED THE RT GEAR WELL CONNECTOR, RECONNECTED WITH OPERATIONAL CHECKS GOOD. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

DURING CLIMB OUT, THE LT ENGINE FIRE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE PILOT DECLARED AND EMERGENCY, RETURNED TO BASE, LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE PILOT DID NOT SEE FLAMES OR SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER INDICATIONS OF AN ENGINE FIRE, THEREFORE HE DID NOT SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN INFLIGHT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE ENGINE FOR SIGNS OF FIRE AND NONE WERE FOUND. TROUBLESHOOTING OF THE LT FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM REVELED A BAD FIRE DETECTOR AT THE 12 O`CLOCK POSITION ON THE LT ENGINE. WHEN THE WIRES WERE MOVED GOING INTO THE DETECTOR THE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. MAINTENANCE REPLACE THE FIRE DETECTOR, OPERATION CHECKED, OK, AND THE AC WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. (K)

AC EXPERIENCED A FALSE FIRE WARNING ON THE LT ENGINE ENROUTE. WHILE FLYING THROUGH HEAVY PRECIPITATION. THE PILOT VISUALLY CHECKED THE ENGINE AND MONITORED ALL RELATED INSTRUMENTS AND SYSTEMS TO VERIFY NORMAL INDICATIONS THUS CONCLUDING THE INDICATION WAS FALSE. THE PILOT NOTIFIED MAINT UPON ARRIVAL. MAINT EXAMINED THE FIRE DETECTOR SYSTEM AND FOUND 2 WIRES CHAFING AT THE LT NACELLE AFT UPPER DETECTOR. THE MECHANIC REPOSITIONED AND REPAIRED THE WIRES IAW STANDARD MAINT PRACTICES AND OPERATIONALLY CHECKED THE SYSTEM. NO DEFECTS WERE NOTED. THE MECHANIC ALSO INSPECTED THE ENGINE FOR VISIBLE SIGNS OF FIRE. NONE NOTED. (K)
