DURING CLIMB JUST AFTER TAKE OFF CREW NOTICED A WHITE SMOKE FILLING THE COCKPIT AND CABIN. CHECK LIST FOLLOWED, EMERGENCY DECLARED, AND UNSCHEDULED LANDING PERFORMED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE EVALUATION STILL IN PROGRESS, SUSPECT ENGINE AS SOURCE AND ENGINES ARE BEING REMOVED FOR INVESTIGATION, UPDATED SDR WILL BE POSTED ONCE CAUSE IS DETERMINED.
RE-SUBMISSION OF SDR BASED ON ENGINE FINAL REPORT. DURING CLIMB JUST AFTER TAKE OFF CREW NOTICED A WHITE SMOKE FILLING THE COCKPIT AND CABIN. CHECK LIST FOLLOWED, EMERGENCY DECLARED, AND UNSCHEDULED LANDING PERFORMED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE EVALUATION SUSPECT BOTH ENGINES AS SOURCE AND ENGINES REMOVED FOR INVESTIGATION. BASED ON THE ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS THERE WAS NO FUNCTIONAL MALFUNCTION OR MECHANICAL DETERIORATION OF THE ENGINE RESULTING IN THE SUBJECT EVENT. THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE FOR THE EVENT IS A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE OF THE BREATHER OUTLET. THE CAUSE FOR A POTENTIAL BLOCKAGE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED.
BRACKETS ARE MADE OF MAGNESIUM, CORRODING AND CRACKING. APPROXIMATELY 80 PERCENT OF THE BRACKETS INSPECTED BY BEAD BLASTING ARE UN-AIRWORTHY. PROBLEM OF CORROSION BETWEEN BEARING AND BOSS WHICH EXPANDS AND CRACKS THE BOSS. SEPARATION OF AILERON FROM REAR WING SPAR WHILE STILL ATTACHED TO STEEL ACTUATOR ROD WOULD MOST LIKELY RENDER THE AIRCRAFT UNCONTROLLABLE. WE HAVE BEEN URGING EVERYONE TO REMOVE THESE BRACKETS FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND BEAD BLAST THE BODY WHILE PROTECTING BEARING. CHEMICALLY STRIPPING DOES NOT REMOVE CORROSION BY PRODUCTS.
