Part: FIRE DETECTOR — MALFUNCTIONED (RT ENGINE)
RIGHT ENGINE FIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING INITIAL CLIMB-OUT. RIGHT ENGINE WAS SECURED, AND THE FIRE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. RIGHT ENGINE FIRE EXTINGUISHER WAS THEN DISCHARGED AND ABOUT 2 MINUTES LATER THE FIRE LIGHT EXTINGUISHED. UPON LANDING, ENGINE WAS INSPECTED, AND IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WAS NO FIRE, IN ADDITION, THE FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM OPERATIONALLY CHECKED OK. (X)

ENGINE FAILED DURING LEVEL CRUISE FLIGHT AT 13,000 FEET MSL. NO WARNING OR INDICATION OF A PROBLEM PRIOR TO SUDDEN POWER LOSS. SECURED ENGINE AND LANDED. CAUSE OF FAILURE IS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME. ENGINE IS TO BE RETURNED TO MANUFACTURER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. DAMAGE APPEARS TO BE EXTENSIVE. THIS REPORT WILL BE AMENDED WHEN CAUSE OF FAILURE IS DETERMINED.
