Part: ACTUATOR — INOPERATIVE (PITCH TRIM) · airframe 28,416 hrs · 23,131 cycles

SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF FROM KSTT, PITCH TRIM FAILED IN TAKEOFF POSITION. THE PILOT THEN FOLLOWED A QRH BUT UNABLE TO RESET THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER CONTROL SYSTEM. THE PILOT REQUESTED RETURNING TO KSTT AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. AIRCRAFT LANDED SAFELY IN KSTT. SJU MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL TRAVELED TO KSTT TROUBLESHOT AND FOUND A HORIZONTAL STABILIZER ACTUATOR TO BE FAULTY. REMOVED AND REPLACED HORIZONTAL STABILIZER ACTUATOR IAW SA227 AMM 27-40-10. OPERATIONAL CHECKS GOOD.

DURING APPROACH, NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND USING NORMAL SYSTEM. MANUALLY EXTENDED LANDING GEAR, NOSE GEAR INDICATED DOWN AND LOCKED. DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MX INSPECTED NLG SYS AND FOUND NOSE GEAR DRAG BRACE UP LOCK HOOK TORQUE TUBE ARMS WORN, NOT ALLOWING THE NOSE GEAR TO UNLOCK AND EXTEND NORMALLY. THE MANUAL EXTENSION SYS WORKED NORMALLY. R & R THE LT AND RT NOSE GEAR DRAG BRACE UP LOCK HOOK TORQUE TUBE ARMS.
