FOUND ENG HARNESS TO BE CAUSING INTERMITTENT FIRE WARNING INDICATION.

NR 2 ENGINE FIRE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING CRUISE FLIGHT FOR 15 SECONDS BEFORE THE FIRE WARNING LIGHT EXTINGUISHED UNCOMMANDED. THE SYSTEM WAS INSPECTED AND A FUNCTIONAL TEST WAS PERFORMED WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. THE DISCREPANCY COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED.

AT CRUISE FLIGHT, THE CREW SENSED A BURNING ODOR THAT WAS DETECTED IN THE AFT CABIN. AT THAT TIME THE AIRCRAFT WAS DIVERTING TO AIRPORT. THE PILOT TURNED OFF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYS, IN WHICH THE CREW SAID THE SMELL WAS GOING AWAY, BUT A FEW MOMENTS LATER THE ODOR HAD GOTTON WORSE AND SMOKE WAS BEGINNING TO FILL THE AFT PORTION OF THE CABIN AGAIN. AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING WAS MADE. FOUND THAT THE AFT EVAPORATOR MOTOR HAD FAILED.
