Maintenance disclosures
ON PREFLIGHT INSPECTION, THE PILOT NOTICED THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE IN THE RUDDER PEDALS WHEN MOVED FROM LT TO RT, THIS WAS CONFIRMED WHEN THE PILOT MOVED THE RUDDER PEDALS AND ANOTHER PILOT CONFIRMED THERE WAS NO RUDDER MOVEMENT. MX INSPECTED THE RUDDER CONTROL SYS AND FOUND THE LT RUDDER CABLE FRAYED AND BROKEN AT FS 507.00. THE CABLE EXHIBITED WEAR AND FRAYING LOCALIZED TO THE AREA UNDER THE PULLEY AND ENCLOSED IN THE PULLEY MOUNTING BRACKET. FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND THE CABLE GUARD PIN INSTALLED IN THE PULLEY BRACKET CORRODED AND WORN. THERE WAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF OXIDATION ON THE CABLE LOCALIZED TO THE PULLEY BRACKET AREA. THE RT RUDDER CABLE WAS INSPECTED AT THE ADJACENT PULLEY AND WAS FOUND TO HAVE SEVERAL BROKEN STRANDS; THE RT RUDDER CABLE WAS ALSO REPLACED.
AFTER SHUT DOWN OF LT ENGINE GROUND CREW OBSERVED FUEL LEAKING FROM LT ENGINE COWLING. UPON INVESTIGATION MAINTENANCE FOUND THE FUEL FLOW TRANSDUCER INLET LINE CHAFED AND LEAKING FROM THE CHAFED AREA. THE STARTER GENERATOR COOLING DUCT SCAT TUBING WAS THE CAUSE OF THE CHAFING.
DURING MAINTENANCE FOR A PRESSURIZATION SQUAWK FOUND THE LOWER BELLY SKIN AT FUSELAGE STATION 258.25 HAD A CRACK EMINATING FROM A RIVET HEAD AND THE SKIN AROUND THE RIVET WAS BULGED OUT. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION UNDER THE FLOOR BOARDS FOUND HEAVY CORROSION ON THE SKIN IN THE ARE OF STRINGERS 14 AND 15. AFTER REMOVING THE CORRODED SECTION FO SKIN FOUND STRINGER 14 AND 15 WERE NOT CORRODED, BUT THE FILLER BETWEEN THE SKIN AND THE STRINGER WAS SEVERLY CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WORKING WITH ENGINEERING ON AN APPROVED REPAIR.
ON APPROACH TO LANDING PILOT ATTEMPTED TO TRIM NOSE UP WITH NO RESPONSE USING ELECTRIC TRIM. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO USE MANUAL TRIM AND THE TRIM WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. PILOT LANDED AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION OF ELEVATOR TRIM SYSTEM FOUND ELECTRIC TRIM SERVO SHAFT WOULD NOT TURN. REPLACED TRIM SERVO ELECTRIC TRIM, OPS CHECK OK.
