Maintenance disclosures
DISCREPANCY: ON APPROACH INTO KSAT, THE PILOT SELECTED GEAR DOWN AND THE LANDING GEAR CIRCUIT BREAKER POPPED. AFTER COMPLYING WITH THE LANDING GEAR MANUAL EXTENSION, THE PILOT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. CORRECTIVE ACTION: MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND INSTALLED SERVICEABLE CANNON PLUG P209 AND DIODES CR330 AND C331. THEY ALSO REMOVED AND INSTALLED SERVICEABLE LANDING GEAR CONTROL CIRCUIT BREAKER, RIGHT SQUAT SWITCH, RIGHT MAIN GEAR DOWN POSITION SWITCH AND RIGHT MAIN GEAR ACTUATOR. MAINTENANCE PERFORMED 10 CYCLES, OPERATIONAL CHECKS WITH NO FAULTS NOTED. THE LEAK CHECK AND RIGGING CHECK PERFORMED NORMALLY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RELEASED AND RETURNED TO SERVICE.
THE PILOT REPORTED WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT TO KCRP THE LT ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE INDICATION WAS SHOWING AT MAXIMUM 140 DEGREES C, WHERE AS NORMAL INDICATION IS 60 TO 80 DEGREES C. REDUCED POWER TO REDUCE THE OIL TEMPERATURE INDICATION BUT WAS THIS WAS INEFFECTIVE. ELECTED TO SHUTDOWN THE LT ENGINE AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT IN KCRP. MX INSPECTED THE LT ENGINE AND FOUND THE ELECTRICAL PORTION OF THE OIL TEMPERATURE BULB WET WITH ENGINE OIL. MX CLEANED THE CONNECTOR OF THE OIL TEMPERATURE BULB, SWAPPED BULBS FROM THE LT ENGINE TO THE RT ENGINE FOR TROUBLESHOOTING. GROUND OPERATIONAL CHECKS WERE SATISFACTORY. NO EXTERNAL OIL LEAKS WERE NOTED AND OIL TEMPERATURE INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE AND NO SUBSEQUENT ISSUES HAVE BEEN REPORTED.
ON APPROACH, WHEN THE GEAR WAS SELECTED DOWN, CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPPED. USED THE EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION. NO EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED. A SAFE LANDING WAS MADE. MAINTENANCE INVESTIGATION REVEALED DAMAGED AND CHAFED WIRING AT THE RIGHT GEAR SQUAT SWITCH CONNECTOR PLUG. WIRES WERE REPAIRED PER THE AWM, AND GEAR FUNCTION TESTED GOOD SEVERAL TIMES.
