ATA 8500

THE PILOT REPORTED ON CLIMB OUT FROM KABQ THAT THE AIRCRAFT’S RIGHT ENGINE MANIFOLD PRESSURE WAS DECREASING AS THE THROTTLE WAS INCREASED. THEN THE RIGHT OIL PRESSURE DROPPED FROM NORMAL 75PSI DOWN TO 20PSI (REDLINE). THE PILOT FOLLOWED PROCEDURES AND PERFORMED AN INFLIGHT SHUT DOWN TO SECURE THE RIGHT ENGINE, THEN INFORMED ATC AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT BACK IN KABQ. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE RIGHT ENGINE AND FOUND THE NUMBER SIX CYLINDER HAD LOST COMPRESSION AND THERE WAS FERROUS METAL IN OIL FILTER. THE ENGINE WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT.

ON APPROACH, THE PILOT SELECTED THE LG HANDLE TO THE EXTEND POSITION, THE LG DID NOT EXTEND. THE PILOT TRIED TO CYCLE THE LG WITH THE SAME RESULTS. THE PILOT PERFORMED THE EMER LG EXTENSION PROCEDURES & RECEIVED THREE GREEN DOWN & LOCKED INDICATION. THE PILOT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. FOUND THE RT ENG HYD FILTER BOWL CRACKED & LEAKING HYD FLUID. R & R THE HYD FILTER BOWL ASSEMBLY. PERFORMED GEAR SWINGS ON JACKS, OPERATIONAL CHECK OF THE LG SYS WAS NORMAL. PERFORMED ENG GND RUNS, HYD FILTER BOWL LEAK CHECK WAS SATISFACTORY. HYD BOWL ASSEMBLY, PN AN6234-01 IS AN ON CONDITION PART, TIME IN SERVICE IS UNKNOWN.

ATA 7810

DURING INSPECTION ON JUNE 26, 2008 IT WAS NOTED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK THAT WENT AROUND THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE NR 7 EXHAUST FLANGE. A NEW MANIFOLD ASSY WAS ORDERED AND INSTALLED. WHILE REMOVING THE CRACKED ONE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAD BEEN COMPLETE SEPARATION. THIS EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS A PMA PART FOR THE ENGINES, AND WAS INSTALLED NEW AT OVERHAUL 1505 HOURS PRIOR. IT WAS NOTED THAT A NEW WELDING TECHNIQUE HS BEEN USED RECENTLY IN THE FLANGE AREA. (K)

GASKET FOUND CUT UPON REMOVAL. POSSIBLY DUE TO INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. RECOMMEND MORE CARE IN INSTALLING ADAPTER PLATE TO PREVIENT COCKING ON INSTALLATION. MAKE SURE GASKET IS CENTERED ON PLATE.
