LEFT ENGINE ENGINE VIBRATION: ON CLIMBOUT THROUGH FL250 WE FELT ENGINE VIBRATIONS AND WE HEARD A MUFFLED BANG. WE THEN RECEIVED CAS MESSAGES ABOUT ENGINE EXCEEDENCE AND NO DISPATCH, THEN ENGINE 1 FAILURE AND WE SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING THAT WENT AWAY AFTER WE SECURED THE ENGINE. WE RAN THE ENGINE FAILURE QRH, THEN DECIDED TO NOT RUN THE ENGINE RESTART QRH BECAUSE N2 WAS INDICATION 0.0%. AS WE DESCENDED INTO WARMER AIR, N2 CLIMBED TO 4.0%. ON POSTFLIGHT, I NOTED THAT THE L ENGINE OIL LEVEL WAS NOT VISIBLE IN THE SIGHT GAUGE. REMOVED LT ENGINE. PERFORMED ALL REQUIRED ENGINE RUN/LEAK CHECKS WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. ALL MAINTENANCE PERFORMED IAW AMM 71-00-00 & EMM 71-00-00.

PERFORMED FIM TASK 24-36-00-810-802-A BATTERY VOLTAGE EXCEEDED ALL OPERATIONAL CHECKS WAS GOOD AT THIS TIME. ADVISED CONTACT CENTER, COULD NOT DUPLICATE SQUAK OF FINDINGS. THEY EVALUATED INFO AND CMC FILES AND RECOMMENDED TO REPLACED RPDU. REPLACED FAULTY RPDU PN SX7EG21-3 SN 0308 WITH TEST RPDU IAW AMM 24-65-02 ALL OPS CHECK GOOD AT THIS TIME.

DRAINED & SUMPED ALL FUEL FROM BOTH TANKS & REPLACED BOTH AIRFRAME FUEL FILTERS & BOTH ENG FILTERS IAW MM 28-00-02, 28-21-05 & PWA MM 73-10-02. INSPECTED INSIDE BOTH FUEL TANKS & FOUND NO DEBRIS OR ON FUEL FILTERS. PUMPED FRESH FUEL INTO TANKS. GROUND RAN BOTH ENG`S, NO DEFECTS IN FUEL SYS OR LEAKS AT FILTERS OR FUEL TANK ACCESS PANELS IAW MM 28-10-00. ALSO VISUALLY VERFIIED PROPER PLACARDS TO BE INSTALLED AT A/C FUELING POINTS.

BOTH CHECKS NORMAL. ALL WORK DONE IAW CITATION 560 MM 32-42-00.
