DISCREPANCY: AFTER DEPARTING KBFI, THE PILOT NOTICED SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT WHILE CLIMBING THRU 8000 FEET. SMOKE APPEARED TO BE COMING OUT FROM BEHIND THE DASH AREA IN THE FRONT CONSOLE. THE PILOT INSTALLED MASK WITH GOGGLES AND TURNED OFF THE BLEED AIR. THE QRH CHECKLIST WAS PERFORMED AND THE PILOT RETURNED TO KBFI. WHILE DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND TALKING TO ATC, THE SMOKE CLEARED OUT. THE LANDING WAS WITHOUT INCIDENT. CORRECTIVE ACTION: MAINTENANCE INSPECTED AREA WHILE PERFORMING ENGINE RUN. THE TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER AND THE WINDSHIELD HEAT OPERATIONAL CHECKS IN THE HIGH AND LOW POSITION WAS PERFORMED. MAINTENANCE ALSO PERFORMED AN OPERATIONAL CHECK OF THE BLEED SYSTEM IN THE ON AND AUTO POSITION. ALL OPERATIONAL CHECKS WERE SATISFACTORY AND WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE DISCREPANCY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RELEASED AND RETURNED TO SERVICE. NO ISSUES HAVE BEEN REPORTED SINCE LAST FLIGHT.
PITCH TRIM INTERMITTENTLY MOVES TOWARDS FULL PITCH UP UNCOMMANDED, WHILE PITCH TRIM SELECTED IN PILOT POSITION. MOVING THE SWITCH TO OFF OR CO-PILOT POSITION DOES NOT STOP MOTION. SYSTEM WIRING WAS INSPECTED WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. SYSTEM LIMIT SWITCHES WERE INSPECTED WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. R & R PILOT PITCH TRIM CONTROL SWITCH AND PITCH TRIM ACTUATOR. ADJUSTED THE RT DOWN LIMIT SWITCH IAW AMM. GROUND OPS CHECKS DETERMINED TO BE SATISFACTORY. AIRCRAFT CURRENTLY WAITING FOR OPS CHECK FLIGHT TO BE PERFORMED. WILL UPDATE UPON COMPLETION OF OCF.
PITCH TRIM INTERMITTENTLY MOVES TOWARDS FULL PITCH UP UNCOMMANDED, WHILE PITCH TRIM SELECTED IN PILOT POSITION. MOVING THE SWITCH TO OFF OR CO-PILOT POSITION DOES NOT STOP MOTION. SYSTEM WIRING WAS INSPECTED WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. SYSTEM LIMIT SWITCHES WERE INSPECTED WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. R & R PILOT PITCH TRIM CONTROL SWITCH AND PITCH TRIM ACTUATOR. ADJUSTED THE RT DOWN LIMIT SWITCH IAW AMM. GROUND OPS CHECKS DETERMINED TO BE SATISFACTORY. IN ADDITION TO REPLACEMENT OF THE PITCH TRIM ACTUATOR THE PILOTS PITCH TRIM SWITCH WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE PN OF THE SWITCH HAS BEEN ADDED IN PART 5. OPS CHECK FLIGHT, SATISFACTORY. NO FURTHER ISSUES WITH PITCH SYSTEM, ACFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
SHORTLY AFTER TAKE-OFF, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT FORWARD PRESSURE ON THE CONTROLS WAS REQUIRED TO KEEP THE AIRCRAFT AT A NORMAL CLIMB PITCH ATTITUDE. THE PILOT SELECTED TRIM DOWN AND THAT CORRECTED THE CONDITION ONLY TO HAVE IT RETURN. IT WAS DISCOVERED AT THAT POINT THAT THE CAPTAIN'S PITCH TRIM WAS TRIMMING UPWARDS, UN-COMMANDED WITH NO TRIM IN MOTION TONE. THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY RETURNED TO DESTINATION AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE PITCH TRIM SYSTEM AND FOUND TWO WIRES CHAFED TOGETHER AT THE PILOTS TRIM SWITCH ON THE LEFT CONTROL YOKE. THE CHAFED WIRES WERE SHORTING TOGETHER CAUSING THE STABILIZER TRIM ACTUATOR TO OPERATE WITH OUT INPUT FROM THE TRIM SWITCH. THE WIRES WERE REPAIRED AND THE TRIM SYSTEM FUNCTIONAL CHECKED NORMAL.
DURING TAKEOFF, THE RT ENG COWLING OPENED & THE TOP COWLING DEPARTED THE ACFT. THE PILOT WAS NOTIFIED & RETURNED. THE PILOT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MX INVESTIGATION IS STILL ON GOING, PRELIMINARY FINDINGS REVEALED INBD LATCHES WERE NOT SECURED. OPEN
DEPARTING BIS FOR FAR, ACCELERATING DOWN THE RUNWAY DURING T/O, THE RT CHIP DETECT LIGHT WAS OBSERVED TO BE ILLUM DURING THE 80 KTS CROSS CHECK. THE T/O WAS ABORTED. MX REMOVED AND INSPECTED THE CHIP DETECT. NO SIGNIFICANT METAL PARTICLES WERE FOUND. DETECT WAS CLEANED AND REINSTALLED AND A SOAP SAMPLE WAS TAKEN. THE A/C WAS RELEASED AND DEPARTED W/O INCIDENT. THE SOAP SAMPLE IND HIGH LVLS OF CARBON STEEL. THE GEARBOX WAS OPENED AND INSPECTED. THE WAVEY WASHER ON THE TACH DRIVE WAS FOUND TO BE MISSING METAL. WAVEY WASHERS WERE REPLACED AND A/C RELEASED TO SERVICE. ANOTHER SOAP WAS TAKEN AT 25 HOURS TIS. THE RESULTS OF WHICH SHOWED NO ABNORM.
