COCKPIT ODOR: AT THE END OF RIGHT ENGINE START SEQUENCE, STRONG ODOR FILLED THE COCKPIT AREA. THE ODOR WAS MUCH STRONGER THAN THE OCCASIONAL/TYPICAL AFTER START EXHAUST OR ENVIRONMENTAL ODORS. ALL ENGINE BLEED SOURCES WERE IN NORMAL POSITIONS, APU BLEED AIR WAS OFF. REMOVED AND REPLACED WATER SEPARATOR CONDENSER BAG, PERFORMED OPERATIONAL CHECKS WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED AT THIS TIME. CORROSION ON LH AND RH OVERWING FUEL ADAPTER LANDS ON WING SKIN. THIS WAS FOUND DURING OVERWING FUEL CAP AND ADAPTER REPLACEMENT.

COCKPIT HAD AN ODOR OF OIL, VERY STRONG IN THE COCKPIT FROM TAKE-OFF THRU CLIMB OUT. IT SUBSIDED AT ALTITUDE BUT STRENGTHEN AGAIN DURING APPROACH. REMOVED AND REPLACED THE NR 2 ENGINE IAW MM 71-00-30
COCKPIT ODOR AFTER TAKEOFF, STRONG ODOR AT HIGH POWER SETTING, RIGHT OIL TEMP 20 DEGREES HIGHER THAN LEFT ENGINE. AFTER LEVEL OFF SMELL WENT AWAY AND RIGHT OIL TEMP DECREASED RAPIDLY TO MATCH LEFT ENGINE. OPERATED AIRCRAFT AT HIGH POWER SETTING WITH ENGINES SET TO HP, LP, AND NORMAL. ENGINE AND AIRFRAME ANTI-ICE ON AND OFF. APU ON AND OFF, APU BLEED ON AND OFF. NO PERCEPTIBLE ODOR NOTED.
OIL ODOR IN THE COCKPIT, DURING CLIMB THRU 18,000 FT, A STRONG EXHAUST, OIL ODOR FILLED THE AIRPLANE. THE ODOR LASTED A FEW MINUTES AND CAME AND WENT THRU DURATION OF SHORT FLIGHT. APU WAS OFF. WHEN APU WAS STARTED ON THE GROUND THERE WAS A SURGING AND CYCLING NOISE POSSIBLY FROM ACM OUTSIDE AIRCRAFT AND A KNOCKING NOISE FROM AFT CLOSET INSIDE AIRCRAFT. REMOVED AND REPLACED THE ACM IAW MM 21-51-00, OPS CHECKED NORMAL. REMOVED AND REPLACED THE WATER SEPARATOR IAW MM 21-21-003, OPS CHECKED NORMAL.
DURING SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, SEVERE CORROSION WAS FOUND BELOW DROP AISLE FLOOR RESULTING IN 2 AREAS THAT PENETRATED 100% OF SKIN THICKNESS. AREA WAS LOCATED JUST INSIDE CABIN DOOR AND AREA FORWARD FROM THERE.

PRIMARY TRIM FAILED. ON LT SIDE CONTROL CANNOT TRIM NOSE DOWN, WORKS NOSE UP. RT SIDE TRIM WORKS NORMAL. REMOVED PILOT'S PRIMARY TRIM SWITCH, PN S3860 1, SN 0506 & INSTALLED NEW SWITCH PN S3860 1, SN 1328 IAW WIRING DIAGRAM 8912102. OPERATIONAL TEST WAS GOOD.
THE CONNECTORS FOR THE FIRE BOTTLE IN THE RT FWD BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT ARE EXTREMETLY DIFFICULT TO CONNECT- UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE BOTTLE SQUIBS WERE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY (OPPOSITE). THE FIRE BOTTLE'S CENTER SQUIB WAS FOUND KEYED FOR PN,023 AND THE LT SQUIB WAS FOUND KEYED FOR PN021. ACCORDING TO THE MM 26/20/30, PG 8 THE CENTER SQUIB SHOULD BE KEYED FOR CONNECTOR PN 021 AND THE LT KEYED FOR PN 023. THE SQUIBS WERE RELOCATED TO THEIR CORRECT POSITION AND BOTTLE REINSTALLED IAW MM 26-20-30. REPLACED WITH NEW.
SQUIB ON SHARED FIRE BOTTLE IN RT NOSE COMPARTMENT HITTING AIRFRAME. DUE TO THE LIMITED SPACE ALLOWED IN RT NOSE COMPARTMENT AS COMPARED TO THE SIZE AND WEIGHT OF THE FIRE BOTTLE, SCRATCHES AND DENTS ARE BEING CAUSED IN THE NOSE COMPARTMENT AIRFRAME STRUCTURE DURING INSTALLATION OF THE FIRE BOTTLE. THE BOTTLE WAS REPOSITIONED TO PREVENT HITTING OF THE AIRFRAME AND AFFECTED AREAS WERE TREATED AND PAINTED.
DURING A SCHEDULED INSPECTION, NOTICED HEAT EXCHANGER SIDE PLATE HAD FOUR CRACKS ABOUT .30 INCH LONG. A NEW HEAT EXCHANGER WAS INSTALLED. LEAK CHECK OF DEFECTIVE UNIT AND FOUND CRACKS EXTENDED INTO COOLING FIN AREA.
DURING A SCHEDULED INSPECTION, PREFORMED A PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT, REPLACEMENT OF DUCT ASSY 6914070-67. NOTICED THAT THE HEAT EXCHANGER SIDE PLATE HAD TWO CRACKS ABOUT .50 INCHES LONG AND ANOTHER .20 INCHES LONG. OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE HEAT EXCHANGER WAS CRACKED IN NONE OF THE FOUR CORNERS. A NEW HEAT EXCHANGER WAS INSTALLED. PERFORMED A LEAK CHECK ON THE DEFECTIVE UNIT AND FOUND THE CRACKS EXTENDED INTO THE COOLING FIN AREA, WHERE THEY CAN NOT BE SEEN.
UNABLE TO CONTROL CABIN TEMP IN AUTOMODE. TROUBLESHOT AND FOUND DEBRIS IN CABIN CONDITIONED AIR DUCT CHECK VALVE. REMOVED CHECK VALVE TO REMOVED DEBRIS. FOUND CABIN MIXING MUFF AND COCKPIT MIXING MUFF DELAMINATING ON THE INSIDE. REMOVED LT AND RT MUFFS AND DUCTING REF MM 21-21-03. RE-INSTALLED SAME SERVICABLE CABIN COND AIR DUCT CHECK VALVE REF MM 21-22-01. INSTALLED NEW LT AND RT MIXING MUFFS (PN: 6915030-8) AND REINSTALLED DUCTING REF MM 21-21-03. PERFORMED GROUND RUN NO LEAKS NOTED. PERFORMED CABIN AUTO TEMP CHECK REF MM 21-22-00. OPS CHECK GOOD.
DURING GEAR EXTENSION THE NOSE GEAR AND LEFT MAIN EXTENDED NORMALLY. THE RT MAIN TOOK BETWEEN 10-12 SECONDS TO EXTEND. NORMAL EXTENSION IS 5-6 SECONDS. ALSO RECEIVED THE RED UNLOCK LIGHT. R & R RT MLG ACTUATOR AND ASSOCIATED MOUNTING HARDWARE. INSTALLED NEW HARDWARE AND INSTALLED A SERVICABLE ACTUATOR. IAW MM 32-30-40. OPS AND LEAK CHECKED GOOD.
AFTER TAKEOFF NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. UNLOCK LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND NOSE GEAR CONTINUE TO CYCLE IN THE WELL. WOULD NOT LOCK. CYCLING PRODUCED LOUD BANGING NOISE. LOWERED LANDING GEAR - EVERYTHING NORMAL. ADJUSTED NLG SQUAT SWITCH TO SPEC IAW MM 32-60-00. OPS CHECKED GOOD.
DURING GEAR EXTENSION, RT MLG DID NOT SHOW ANY GREEN INDICATION AND THE RED UNLOCK LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. DISCONTINUED APPROACH AND WENT THROUGH THE CHECKLIST. THE RED UNLOCK LIGHT EXTINGUISHED AND THE RT MAIN GREEN INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINTED. R & R RT MAIN GEAR ACTUATOR, OPS CHECKED NORMAL, LEAK CHECKED NORMAL, WORK DONE IAW MM 32-30-40.
AS THROTTLES ADVANCED, RECEIVED A RED "RIGHT ENGINE FAIL" CAS MESSAGE. THE ENGINE FAILED (SHUTDOWN) AND A FEW SECONDS LATER RE-LIT. PERFORMED TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN MM 72-00-00. NO DEFECTS NOTED. PERFORMED A SATISFACTORY 5 POINT GROUND PERFORMANCE RUN AND OPS CHECKS IAW MM 72-00-00. COULD NOT DUPLICATE FLAMEOUT CONDITION. INSPECTED ENGINE FUEL FILTER, MOTIVE FLOW VALVE SYS FUNCTIONALITY, FUEL BOOST PUMP PRESSURE AND ACTIVATION, CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS IN MOTIVE FLOW SYS. NO DEFECTS WERE NOTED IAW MM. EDU DOWNLOADED AND SENT TO MFG FSR AND ENGINE SERVICE ENGINEER.
APPROACHING DESTINATION, SHOWED RED X'S ON AIRSPEED, ALTITUDE, AND VSI. ALSO RED ATT FAIL AND RED HEADING FAIL. AFTER ARRIVAL, FOUND DISPLAY UNIT 4 BLANK. ACCESSED CMC DIAGNOSTICS & FOUND ALL MODULES TO BE REPORTING EXCEPT FOR DU 4, SHOWED NO COMMS, ATTEMPTED TO REWRITE SOFTWARE INTO DU 4, RECEIVED ERROR MESSAGES. SWAPPED DU 4 WITH DU 1. FOUND DISPLAYS TO BE WORKING NORMAL. REPOSITIONED DISPLAYS BACK TO ORIGINAL LOCATIONS. ALL DISPLAYS CONTINUED TO WORK NORMALLY. SWAPPED DU 3 & DU 4 FOR EVALUATION. CLEANED CONNECTORS ON RACKS & REINSTALLED DISPLAYS IN OPPOSITE POSITIONS. FOUND DISPLAY 3 INOPERATIVE. REPLACED DU 4 IAW MM 34-23-00. ACCESSED CMC & LOADED SOFTWARE. OPS CHECKED GOOD.
AFTER GEAR RETRACTION, RECEIVED A GEAR UNLOCK LIGHT, NOSE GEAR UP, RIGHT MAIN UP LEFT MAIN DOWN INDICATION, WOW MISCOMPARE MESSAGE, THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR CAME DOWN BY ITSELF AND THE WOW MESSAGE WENT AWAY, SELECTED THE GEAR HANDLE DOWN AND GOT 3 GREEN LIGHTS AND NO RED INDICATION. LANDED NORMAL. R & R ONE DETECTIVE NLG SQUAT SWITCH HARNESS WITH ONE NEW HARNESS. OPS CHECK GOOD. CHECKED UPPER & LOWER CHAMBERS IN NLG STRUT FOR PROPER SERVICE & BOTH CHECKED GOOD, REF MM 32-20-00 & 32-60-00.
LT MLG HAD UNSAFE GEAR INDICATIONS. ON FINAL AND LANDING GEAR HANDLE ACTUATED TO GEAR DOWN POSITION THE LT MLG DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATOR DID NOT ILLUMINATE. EMERGENCY DECLARED. C/W CONTINUITY CHECK OF FILTER BYPASS SWITCH. SWITCH CHECKS GOOD. CHECKED ENGINE WIRING IAW MM 72-00-00. FAULT ISOLATION. WIRING CHECKS GOOD. C/W CONTINUITY CHECK ON CHIP DETECTOR. CHIP DETECTOR CHECKS GOOD IAW MM 72-00-00. CLEANED CHIP DETECTOR AND FILTER AND REINSTALLED. C/W ENGINE RUN AT 60% TO POWER FOR 10 MINUTES. REMOVED FILTER AND CHIP DETECTOR. NO DEBRIS ON DETECTOR AND SMALL AMOUNT OF DEBRIS IN FILTER. C/W SOAP SAMPLE AND SENT OUT. REINSTALLED DETECTOR AND INSTALLED NEW FILTER IAW MM 79-20-01. REQUIRES LEAK CHECK. JACKED AIRCRAFT AS PER MM 07-10-00. FOUND NOSE STRUT DID NOT EXTEND FULLY. CHECKED ALL STRUT PRESSURES AND WIPED ALL STRUT OLEO'S WITH CLEANING FLUID. FOUND NOSE STRUT LOWER CHAMBER PRESSURE LOW. SERVICED THE NOSE STRUT IAW THE CE MM 32-20-00. PERFORMED SERVERAL RETRACTION AND EXTENSION CHECKS IAW THE MM 32-00-00. RETRACTION CHECK SATISFACTORY.
PRIMARY STAB TRIM INOP ON CLIMBOUT. BECAME INTERMITTENT AS AIRSPEED WAS DECREASED. REMOVED AND REPLACED PRIMARY STABILIZER TRIM ACTUATOR WITH OVERHAULED UNIT, AND RIGGED STABILIZER AND EICAS POSITION INDICATION. ALL OP CHECKS NORMAL IAW MM 27-40-00.
GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND NORMALLY.TROUBLESHOT SYSTEM. SYSTEM OPS CHECK GOOD. SUSPECT LT HYDRAULIC PUMP WAS CAUSE OF DISCREPANCY. REMOVED AND REPLACED LT HYDRAULIC PUMP. OP/LEAK CHECK GOOD. IAW MM. CH 29-10-04.
(MAU 1 FAILURE), AMBER CAS NO AIR DATA, AHRS; AUTO PILOT' ETC, ON LT SIDE IN FLIGHT. REPLACED NR 1 NIC PROC MODULE IAW MM 34-17-00. OPS OK IAW MM 34-23-10.
AFTER TAKEOFF THERE WAS AN ACRID SMELL IN THE COCKPIT. NO VISUAL SIGNS OF SMOKE WERE EVIDENT. REMOVED + CLEANED WATER SEPARATOR COALESCER CLOTH IAW CE-680 M/M CHPT 12-14-00. RAN ACFT WITH BOTH ENGINES AND TROUBLESHOT WITH APU RUNNING, RAN TEMP CONTROLLER HOT TO COLD NO SMELLS NOTED.
AFTER TAKEOFF, LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT (THE GEAR HANDLE WAS STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION.) SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, THE WOW MISCOMPARE CAS MESSAGE ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ON.
AFTER TAKEOFF, THE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. 1 MINUTE LATER THE WOW MISCOMPARE AMBER CAS MESSAGE ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ON UNTIL 30 SECONDS AFTER LANDING. JACKED AC, PERFORMED NUMEROUS GEAR SWINGS WHILE MONITORING CDMU. UNABLE TO DUPLICATE DISCREPANCY, CHECKED ALL LANDING GEAR SQUAT SWITCH FOR PROPER RIGGING. ON FINAL GEAR SWING, GEAR HANDLE WOULD NOT GO UP. ADJUSTED NOSE GEAR SQUAT SWITCH IAW MM CHAP 32-60-00 GROUND UP'S CHECKED GOOD.
