Maintenance disclosures
SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTURE, A MINOR FLUCTUATION OF MANIFOLD PRESSURE WAS OBSERVED ON THE RT ENGINE. THE ACFT RETURNED TO DEPARTURE WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE RT ENGINE TURBOCHARGER CENTER BEARING HAD EXCESSIVE WEAR CAUSING THE TURBINE/COMPRESSOR WHEELS TO DRAG CAUSING THE FLUCTUATION OF MANIFOLD PRESSURE.
WHILE IN FLIGHT, AT CRUISE POWER, A LOSS OF MANIFOLD PRESSURE AND ENGINE ROUGHNESS WAS EXPERIENCED. THE ENGINE WAS SHUTDOWN. A NORMAL LANDING WAS MADE AT THE INTENDED DESTINATION. INSP REVEALED THAT NR 2 CYLINDER HEAD HAD SEPARATED. NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE OCCURRED. (K)
TURBOCHARGER CAME APART INTERNALLY RESULTING IN LOSS OF MANIFOLD PRESSURE AND ENGINE METAL CONTAMINATION. ENGINE REMOVED FROM SERVICE. (K)
PILOT EXPERIENCED MANIFOLD FLUCTUATIONS DURING FLIGHT. A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING WAS MADE. AN INSPECTION REVEALED FAILED TURBINE SHAFT BEARINGS. THE TURBOCHARGER WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW IDENTICAL UNIT. (K)
***TONY, LAST SENTENCE?????***WASTEGATE ELBOW COUPLING INSTALLED ON RAM SERIES VII C-340 AND 414, IAW STC SA4331SW. FOUND CRACKED AND REPLACED EACH 50 - 100 HOURS FOR 150 HOURS. (X)
