RECEIVED APPROVAL FROM MFG, DATED 05/08/08 TO PERFORM NDT INSPECTION FOR CRACKS, APPLY ANTI CORROSION PROTECTION IAW THE MM 20-600, APPLY PREVENTITIVE TO CAVITY, FILL WITH 3M STRUCTURAL VOID FILLING COMPOUND NR3524 TO RESTORE CONTOUR AND APPLY PAINT IAW 20-605. AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

FLIGHT CREW NOTED A VIBRATION AFTER TAKEOFF AND RETURNED TO DEPARTURE AIRPORT. THE CREW NOTED THAT THE AFT EQUIPMENT BAY DOOR WAS OPEN AFTER LANDING. INITIAL INSPECTION OF THE DOOR LATCHES REVEALED NO DAMAGE OR EVIDENCE OF MALFUNCTION. IT IS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME WHAT CAUSED THE DOOR TO OPEN. THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT SYSTEM FOR THIS DOOR. THE DOOR WAS INSPECTED AND IT WAS NOTED THAT THE ACM EXHAUST DUCT WAS MISSING. THE DOOR HAD MINOR EDGE DAMAGE, WHICH WAS TEMPORARILY REPAIRED FOR A FERRY FLIGHT. (M)

THE NR 3 WHEEL WAS REPLACED AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE. THE STRUT WAS SERVICED AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. (M)
