THE PILOT REPORTED ON CLIMB OUT FROM KLAN THE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. THE PILOT RETURNED TO KLAN AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. LAN MAINTENANCE TROUBLE SHOT AND FOUND LANDING GEAR CONTROL RELAY FULL OF WATER AND CONTACTS WELDED SHUT. REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH NEW SERVICEABLE RELAY. OPS CHECKS GOOD. SEALED ACCESS PANEL AND REINSTALLED. SERVICED HYDRAULIC FLUID.
DURING CRUISE FLIGHT, PILOT NOTICED THE RT FIRE PULL, HANDLE ILLUMINATED, THE PILOT FOLLOWED THE CHECKLIST PROCEDURES IN THE FLIGHT MANUAL & PERFORMED AN INFLIGHT SHUT DOWN OF THE RT ENG. THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMER, RETURNED & LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. INSPECTED THE RT ENG & FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF A FIRE. TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED AN EXHAUST LEAK FROM THE RT INBD EXHAUST STACK MOUNTING FLANGE THAT WAS DIRECTING HOT EXHAUST ON THE FIRE LOOP. REMOVED STACK & REINSTALLED WITH NEW HARDWARE. GND RUNS & AN OPERATIONAL CHECK FLIGHT WERE PERFORMED. FIRE DETECTION INDICATION ON THE RT ENG WAS NORMAL.
DURING DESCENT THROUGH 5000â AGL PILOT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE RT SUB PANEL & COULD SMELL BURNING ODOR. TURNED OFF ALL NON-ESSENTIAL ELEC EQUIP & LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. NO LONGER NOTICED THE ODOR ONCE THROTTLES WERE REDUCED TO IDLE. TROUBLESHOOTING & INSPECTION REVEALED ACM OIL LEVEL TO BE WITHIN LIMITS, GND RUN OPS CHECKS FOUND LIGHT VAPOR ON INITIAL START & CHECK OF THE ACM SYS AT FULL COLD MANUAL MODE. TRANSITIONED TO FULL HOT & IMMEDIATELY VAPOR DISSIPATED, RAN VARIOUS ENGS POWER SETTINGS WHILE IN FULL HOT & NO DEFECTS NOTED. TRANSITIONED BACK TO FULL COLD RAN ENGS AT VARIOUS POWER SETTINGS FOR 15 MINUTES & VERIFIED NO VAPOR OR SMOKE COMING FROM PILOT OR FIRST OFFICER ACM VENTS, COULD NOT DUPLICATE DISCREPANCY.
PILOT REPORTED THAT THE SMELL OF SMOKE WAS PRESENT IN THE COCKPIT DURING FINAL APPROACH TO DFW. PILOT DID NOT DECLARE, OR TAKE ANY EMERGENCY ACTION. INSPECTED WIRING CONDUITS BEHIND INSTRUMENT PANEL, LT & RT CB PANELS & RT LOWER LATERAL PANEL INSIDE COCKPIT. INSPECTED UNDER FLOOR CIRCUIT BOARDS, COMPONENTS & COMPONENT WIRING & VENT BLOWER MOTOR INSTALLATION. NO EVIDENCE OF ELEC ARCING OR BURNING WAS FOUND. RAN ENGS FOR 30 MINUTES WITH ALL ELEC SYS LOADED, SQUAWK COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED.
DURING A TRAINING FLIGHT OUT OF KCRP, A SIMULATED SINGLE ENGINE OUT PROCEDURE WAS CONDUCTED WITH THE LEFT ENGINE. DURING ENGINE RE-START, THE PROPELLER WOULD NOT COME OUT OF FEATHER. THE CREW RETURNED TO KCRP, AND ALTHOUGH NO EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED, FIRE EQUIPMENT WAS ROLLED. MAINTENANCE TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED THAT THE LEFT PROP GOVERNOR HAD FAILED. AN OVERHAULED UNIT WAS INSTALLED, FUNCTION AND LEAK TESTED, AND THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
