WHILE PERFORMING ELT FIXED TYPE OPERATIONAL TEST, IT FAILED DURING TEST "THE LED FLASHES 4 TIMES"(<P>CLEANED ELT COAX CONNECTOR ANTENNA CABLE I/A/W B737-800 SWPM: 20-60-01 PAGE 2B, PAGES 3-4, AND PERFORM ELT SYSTEM TEST I/A/W B737-800 AMM TEST 23-24-00-730-804-001, FOUND SATISFACTORY CONDITION&NBSP;</P>)
WHEN COMPLETING BEFORE LANDING CHECKLIST, FLAP HANDLE SELECTED TO 30, FLAP INDICATOR NEEDLE INDICATED 8 + 10 DEGREES. ON THE GO AROUND, THE FLAP NEEDLES MATCHED AT 10 DEGREE. COMPLETED THE QRH PROCEDURE, USING ALTERNATE FLAP MASTER SWITCH AND ELECTRICALLY MOVED THE FLAP TO 15 DEGREE. AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER PROBLEM. COMPLIED WITH FIM 27-51, TASKS 813 AND 836, NO FAULT/INTERMITTENT. PERFORMED FSEU BITE TEST, NO FAULTS NOTED CURRENT/HISTORY. AS PRECAUTION, REPLACED LH FLAP POSITION TRANSMITTER PER AMM. PERFORMED MULTIPLE FLAP CYCLES, FLAP POSITION SENSOR TESTED GOOD. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
ON DESCENT, PASSING THROUGH 11,000 FEET, SMELLED CHLORINE. PUT ON OXYGEN MASK. INSPECTED PACKS WITH APU BLEED AND ALSO WITH BOTH ENGINES RUNNING. COULD NOT DUPLICATE CHLORINE SMELL IN THE CABIN. FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND PETROLEUM JELLY RESIDUAL UNDERNEATH PANEL JUST FORWARD OF LEFT HAND PACK VANE INLET PANEL. REMOVED 191CL PANEL AND CLEANED OFF ALL RESIDUAL PETROLEUM JELLY. RE-INSTALLED PANEL. PERFORMED INSPECTION AND PACK BURN OUT, PER AMM 5-51-56 AND FIM 21-00, NO DEFECT OR ODOR NOTED. AIRCRAFT OK FOR SERVICE.
AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. CREW REPORTED ON APPROACH SELECTED FLAP 30 AND THEY REMAINED AT FLAP 15. CYCLED FLAP LEVER TO 15 THEN BACK TO 30, FLAPS WOULD NOT MOVE FROM FLAP 15. MAINTENANCE VISUALLY INSPECTED FLAPS AND SLATS AND CYCLED FLAPS FULL UP AND DOWN, 3 TIMES. NO DEFECTS NOTED. PERFORMED FIM 27-81 TASK 803 AND 27-51 TASK 801. NO EXISTING FAULTS. OPERATIONAL CHECKS GOOD AND AIRCRAFT RELEASED ON LOG PAGE 1335664.
AIRCRAFT GROUNDED. GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT AFTER TAKE-OFF. RAN QRH, GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. RETURNED TO AFW. INSPECTED AND FOUND MANUAL RELEASE EXTENSION DOOR SWITCH OUT OF ADJUSTMENT. ADJUSTED SWITCH AS PER AMM 32-34-00 TASK 820-802. PERFORMED OPERATIONAL AND LEAK CHECKS. CHECKED NORMAL. NO LEAKS NOTED.
