ATA 3230

THE #2 LANDING GEAR CIRCUIT BREAKER POPPED IN FLIGHT. IT WAS RESET, HOWEVER, FAILED ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT. THE LANDING GEAR WAS MANUALLY EXTENDED, AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED SAFELY. MAINTENANCE FOUND THAT THE LANDING GEAR WARNING HORN FAILED, AND IT WAS REPLACED. THEY ALSO FOUND THAT THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE ASSEMBLY WAS THE CAUSE OF THE ELECTRICAL SHORT. THE HANDLE WAS REPLACED, AND GEAR SWINGS WERE SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMED. THE AIRCRAFT IS NOW RELEASED BACK TO SERVICE. NO OTHER DEFECTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED.

PILOT REPORTED THAT AFTER TAKEOFF FROM KPBG, HE NOTED AN ELECTRICAL SMELL IN THE COCKPIT AND NOTICED TRACES OF SMOKE FROM THE LH LANDING LIGHT CIRCUIT BREAKER. PILOT NOTED THAT THE CIRCUIT BREAKER FELT HOT AND HAD SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN. PILOT PERFORMED AN AIR RETURN TO KPBG AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. PILOT DID NOT DECLARE AN EMERGENCY. MAINTENANCE TROUBLESHOT SYSTEM TO A BAD LH LANDING LIGHT CIRCUIT BREAKER. MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED THE CIRCUIT BREAKER PN 7270-5-20. ALL OPS CHECKS WERE GOOD, AND AIRCRAFT HAS FLOWN WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES.

AFTER TAKEOFF FROM KBGR THE PILOT REPORTED THE 26 VAC CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPPED. AFTER RESET CIRCUIT BREAKER, SMOKE NOTED FROM CIRCUIT BREAKER. PILOT RETURNED TO KBGR AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE TRAVELED TO KBGR AND INSPECTED THE COMPASS SYSTEM AND FOUND THE RMI SERVO AMPLIFIER HAS INTERNAL SHORT CAUSING THE CIRCUIT BREAKER OVERLOAD. AIRCRAFT WAS REPOSITIONED TO MHT VIA SPF DATED 06/24/2020. MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED RMI SERVO AMPLIFIER IAW COMPASS SYSTEM I/M. OPS CHECK SATISFACTORY.

ATA 3260

UPON GEAR EXTENSION ON FINAL APPROACH, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE NOSE GEAR & RT MAIN GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. THE PILOT PERFORMED A MISSED APPROACH TO TROUBLESHOOT THE LG INDICATION DISCREPANCY. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE GEAR UNSAFE LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED WHEN THE POWER LEVERS WERE REDUCED & THE FLAPS WERE LOWERED INDICATING THE LG WAS DOWN & LOCKED. PERFORMED AN EMER EXTENSION OF THE LG, INDICATIONS REMAINED THE SAME. PERFORMED A FLY-BY OF THE CONTROL TOWER THE LG VISUALLY APPEARED DOWN & LOCKED. LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MX ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE INDICATOR LIGHT BULBS, THE INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE STILL INOPERATIVE. THE ACFT WAS INSPECTED & FERRIED FOR REPAIRS. CLEANED THE SOCKET & REPLACED THE INDICATOR BULBS & RESET THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY IN THE INDICATOR SOCKET. THE LG DOWN & LOCKED LIGHTS OPERATIONAL CHECKED WAS SATISFACTORY.
