Part: SEAL — UNSECURE (WINDSHIELD) · airframe 1,439 hrs
PILOT REPORTED CRACKLING SOUND AND FAINT SMELL OF BURNING ON LANDING - THOUGHT TO BE COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED ALL ELECTRICAL DEVICES AND WIRING BEHIND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND PERFORMED ENGINE RUNS WITH NO DEFECTS OR ADDITIONAL SMELL DETECTED. FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND A SECTION OF EXTERIOR SEAL ON WINDSHIELD TO HAVE COME LOOSE AND CONTACTING THE TOP OF THE FUSELAGE. THE WINDSHIELD WAS RE-SEALED AND FUNCTIONALLY FLIGHT CHECKED WITH NO FURTHER DEFECTS NOTED.

AFTER TAKE OFF WHILE REDUCING POWER TO CRUISE SPEED PILOT REPORTED LEFT ENGINE STOPPED REDUCING AT 2800-2900 RPM THE PILOT ELECTED TO RETURN TO THE FIELD. AFTER LANDING THE PILOT REPORTED THE LEFT PROPELLER GOVERNOR LINKAGE CAME OFF. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED AND FOUND THE PROP GOVERNOR LINKAGE WORN AND NUT MISSING. THE LINKAGE WAS REPLACED WITH NO FURTHER DEFECTS.

DURING OPERATOR RUTTING MAINTENANCE MECHANIC NOTICED UNUSUAL MARKS ON AXLE. THEN SENT TO NDT AND CRACK FOUND ON INNER AXLE.

DURING INSPECTION, A CRACK WAS FOUND ON THE LT MLG AXLE. THE PART WAS REMOVED & SENT FOR NDT INSPECTION, WHERE THE CRACK WAS CONFIRMED.
