DURING FLIGHT CARBON MONOXIDE WARNING ILLUMINATED. PILOT RETURNED TO LAND. MAINTENANCE DISCOVERED 2 SPOTWELDS ON THE SHROUD SUPPORT FLANGE OF THE MUFFLER HAD FAILED RESULTING IN OPEN HOLES IN THE MUFFLER CAN. REPLACED MUFFLER WITH NEW UNIT.
