DURING 1200 HOUR LUBRICATION OF THE FLAP DRIVE GEARBOX, NOTED THE FORWARD GEAR WAS WORN TO THE END OF SERVICEABLE LIMITS. THE FLAP SYSTEM OPERATED NORMALLY GIVING NO INDICATION OF IMPENDING FAILURE. A NEW GEAR AND BEARING WAS INSTALLED AND THE GEARBOX SERVICED.
ELECTRIC LANDING GEAR EXTENSION FAILED INFLIGHT. NORMAL LANDING ACCOMPLISHED USING MANUAL GEAR EXTENSION. LANDING GEAR MOTOR BRUSHES FOUND WORN EXCESSIVELY, COMMUTATOR PITTED. OVERHAULED MOTOR INSTALLED, NEW FILTER INSTALLED. GEAR RETRACTION CHECKS PERFORMED ON JACKS, ALL CHECKS NORMAL. THERE IS NO PUBLISHED INSPECTION TIME FOR THE GEAR MOTOR BRUSHES ON HYDRAULIC GEAR. MFG SUGGEST INSPECTING GEAR MOTOR BRUSHES AT REGULAR INTERVALS. (K)
WHEEL HALF FOUND CRACKED IN WEB DURING VISUAL INSPECTION CONFIRMED BY ZYGLOW INSPECTION. WHEEL HALF THAT HAS VALVE STEM IN IT.
