ENROUTE, THE LT BLEED FAIL WARNING ILLUMINATED. WHILE FINISHING THE CHECKLIST FOR THE FAILURE SMOKE ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE AIRCRAFT. ELECTED TO CONDUCT A LANDING. UPON LANDING, THE SMOKE DISSIPATED FROM THE CABIN OF THE AIRCRAFT.
REPORTED THAT AT APPROX 0130 IN THE MORNING PILOT HAD TO MANUALLY EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR PRIOR TO LANDING. THE PILOT SELECTED GEAR DOWN AND IT DID NOTHING. HE FOUND THE LANDING GEAR RELAY CIRCUIT BREAKER HAD POPPED. HE THEN MANUALLY PUMPED THE GEAR DOWN AND IT INDICATED DOWN AND LOCKED, SO HE CONTINUED THE LANDING. HE COMPLETED THE LANDING WITH NO INCIDENTS AND SHUTDOWN AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY, IAW THE CHECKLIST AND CALLED FOR A TUG TO PULL THE PLANE TO THE RAMP. MX FOUND A SCREW IN THE HYD POWER PACK THAT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN MELTED. BELIEVE THE MOTOR INTERNALLY SHORTED OUT.
SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, SMOKE WAS OBSERVED COMING OUT OF F/OS GLARE SHIELD. ACFT RETURNED FOR LANDING. FOUND TERMINAL BLOCK AND RING TERMINAL INSULATION FOR CO-PILOT WINDSHIELD LOW HEAT PWR LEAD MELTED AND CRACKED. THE TERMINAL APPEARED TO BE LOOSE CAUSING A HIGH RESISTANCE CONNECTION LEADING TO THE OVERHEATING AND SUBSEQUENT DAMAGE. REPLACED WINDSHIELD AND POWER LEAD RING TERMINAL, ALL OPS CHECKS OF HEATING SYS SATISFACTORY.

FOUND TERMINAL BLOCK AND RING TERMINAL INSULATION FOR CO-PILOT WINDSHIELD LOW HEAT POWER LEAD MELTED AND CRACKED. THE TERMINAL APPEARED TO BE LOOSE CAUSING A HIGH RESISTANCE CONNECTION LEADING TO THE OVERHEATING AND SUBSEQUENT DAMAGE. REPLACED WINDSHIELD AND POWER LEAD RING TERMINAL, ALL OPERATIONAL CHECKS OF HEATING SYSTEM SATISFACTORY.
IN ATTEMPTING TO RIG THE ELEVATOR SYSTEM, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE RIGGING HOLE FOR THE FORWARD ELEVATOR BELLCRANK WAS DAMAGED IN THE UPPER ELEVATOR BELLCRANK SUPPORT. IT APPEARED THAT THE HOLE HAD BEEN TORN BY MOVEMENT OF THE BELLCRANK WITH THE RIG PIN INSTALLED. ADDITIONALLY IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE RIGGING HOLE IN THE LOWER BELLCRANK SUPORT DID NOT EXIST, IE. IT HAD NEVER BEEN DRILLED. (K)
THE LT FORWARD SEAT TRACK WAS CORRODED THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE TRACK AND THE TRACK AND THE FLANGE THAT SUPPORTS THE FLOORBOARD. CORROSION WAS PARTICULARLY EVIDENT AT FUSELAGE STA 158.5 - 170.5. THE LOCATION OF THE CORROSION, JUST INSIDE THE AIRSTAIR DOOR, SUGGESTS THAT IT MAY BE THE RESULT OF MOISTURE AND ICE-MELT PRODUCTS (SALT) CARRIED INTO THE CABIN ON PASSENGERS FOOTWEAR. (K)
THE AFT UPPER CAMLOCK LATCH WAS BROKEN. THE SHAFT ROTATED PROPERLY AS THE DOOR HANDLE WAS ROTATED TO THE LOCK POSITION, BUT APPROXIMATELY HALF OF THE LIP OF THE CAMLOCK WAS MISSING MAKING IT UNABLE TO CAPTURE THE LATCH POST. TOTAL TIME ON PART UNKNOWN.
