ABORT DUE TO STRONG FUEL SMELL WITHIN AIRCRAFT
DURING A ROUTINE AUTO ROTATION SPEED CHECK FOLLOWING TRACK AND BALANCE VERIFICATION, THE ENGINE OUT LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE FLAMED OUT. THE IDLE DETENT WAS NOT PASSED. THE AUTO ROTATION WAS CONTINUED WITH A SUCCESSFUL RUN ON LANDING PERFORMED.
FORWARD AND AFT EVAPORATOR RELAYS FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING SYS WERE FOUND TO HAVE THEIR PLASTIC COVERS CRACKED AND BROKEN. BOTH RELAYS, PN: W389CX-8. BOTH ARE PART OF AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM INSTALLATION STC SH2750NM.
AIR CONDITIONER AFT BLOWER INOPERATIVE.
ENGINE CAUTION WARNING CHIP DETECTOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED IN FLIGHT. CHIP DETECTOR WAS REMOVED AND NO SIGNIFIGANT CHIP WAS FOUND. REINSERTED CHIP PLUG AND RAN AIRCRAFT LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. MINTENANCE FOUND EXTENSIVE METAL ON BOTH UPPER AND LOWER ENGINE CHIP DETECTORS. EXTERNAL ENGINE OIL FILTER SHOWED LARGE AMOUNT OF METAL. ENGINE REMOVED FOR REPAIR.
