ATA 8500

DURING CRUISE FLIGHT, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE RT ENG OIL PRESS DROPPED INTO THE YELLOW RANGE. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE MANIFOLD PRESS STARTED TO FLUCTUATE, AT THIS POINT THE PILOT ELECTED TO PERFORM A PRECAUTIONARY SHUTDOWN OF THE RT ENG. THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMER & LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. FOUND THE RT ENG HAD EXCESSIVE METAL IN THE MAIN OIL FILTER, SUSPECT THE OIL PUMP IS FAILING. THE RT ENG REPLACEMENT IS IN PROGRESS.

DURING APPROACH PILOT SELECTED LG DOWN, PILOT RECEIVED THREE GREEN LIGHTS & PROCEEDED WITH LANDING. ON SHORT APPROACH PILOT NOTICED NOSE & RT MLG INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED, PILOT ABORTED LANDING. PERFORMED GO AROUND & NOTIFIED TOWER OF SITUATION. DURING GO AROUND PILOT NOTICED LG INDICATOR CB HAD POPPED, PILOT TRIED TO RESET CB, HOWEVER CB WOULD NOT REMAIN CLOSED. PILOT PERFORMED A PRECAUTIONARY MANUAL EXTENSION OF LG TO ENSURE LG WAS DOWN & LOCKED. PILOT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. INSPECTED THE LG WIRING & FOUND WIRES 2 - 18 & 5 - 18 SHORTED ON LT DOWNLOCK SWITCH. REPAIRED SHORTED WIRES IAW AC43.13-1B & PERFORMED A LG FUNCTIONAL CHECK IAW PA-31-350 MM 6 - 9, OPERATIONS CHECKED GOOD. OPERATIONAL CHECK FLIGHT PERFORMED, GEAR CYCLED THREE TIMES SYS CHECKS WERE NORMAL. NO OTHER DEFECTS NOTED.

THIS REPORT IS SUBMITTED IAW 14CFR135.415(A)(5). PILOT REPORTED THE CARBON MONOXIDE INDICATOR TURNED DARK WITH THE HEATER ON. MAINTENANCE PERFORMED DECAY TEST PER JANITROL MANUAL, WITH NO DEFECTS FOUND. HOWEVER, IT WAS FOUND THE GROUND VENTILATION FAN WAS INOPERATIVE. SUSPECT THAT OVERHEAT CONDITION DURING GROUND OPERATIONS WITH FAN INOP CAUSED POSSIBLE CRACKING IN COMBUSTION LINER WHICH FAILS TO INDICATE DECAY TEST AS DECAY TEST IS PERFORMED WHEN HEATER IS COLD. HEATER REMOVED FOR RETURN TO VENDOR.
