DURING CRUISE FLIGHT, PILOT NOTICED RT ENG LOW BOOST INOPERATIVE ANNUNCIATOR ILLUMINATED WHILE ON OTBD FUEL TANK. PILOT TRIED TO MOVE FUEL SELECTOR TO INBD TANK BUT THE SELECTOR WAS STUCK ON OTBD. PILOT OBSERVED RT ENG SHUT DOWN, PILOT PERFORMED EMER CHECKLIST ITEMS & SECURED ENG. DECLARED AN EMER & DIVERTED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MX FOUND THE FUEL SELECTOR HANDLE ROLL PIN SHEARED. REPLACED THE RT FUEL SELECTOR HANDLE SHAFT & ROLL PIN. RT FUEL SELECTOR OPERATIONAL CHECKED NORMAL.
THE PILOT REPORTED THAT TAKEOFF AND CLIMB APPEARED NORMAL, SHORTLY AFTER LEVELING OFF FOR CRUISE FLIGHT THE PILOT REPORTED A YAW TO THE LEFT AND SUSPECTED A LEFT ENGINE FAILURE. THE PILOT FOLLOWED THE PROCEDURE FOR ENGINE FAILURE, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE PILOT CONTACTED ATC AND REQUESTED EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE BACK TO PDX. THE PILOT RETURNED TO PDX AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE LEFT ENGINE AND FOUND A LARGE AMOUNT OF METAL IN THE OIL FILTER. THE NR 2 AND NR 4 CYLINDERS HAD ZERO COMPRESSION. THE ENGINE IS BEING REPLACED. UPDATE WILL FOLLOW AFTER RECEIVING ENGINE TEAR DOWN REPORT WITH SPECIFIC PART FAILURE DETAILS.
DURING TROUBLESHOOTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT ALTERNATOR FAILURE, NOTED WHEN EITHER ALTERNATOR IS SWITCHED OFF, THE REMAINING ALTERNATOR ALSO TURNS OFF. INSPECTION SHOWED THE CABLE FROM THE ALTERNATOR SHUNT TO THE ALTERNATOR CIRCUIT BREAKER SWITCH (WIRE PIEC AND P2EC) WERE SWAPPED AT THE SWITCH. WHEN SWITCH IS OPENED, THE OPPOSITE FIELD IS ALSO OPENED. CORRECTLY CONNECTED SWITCHES AND WIRES, FUNCTIONAL CHECK OK.
