GRR/IND - EN ROUTE, THE FLIGHT CREW DETECTED A BURNING SMELL IN THE COCKPIT. THE FLIGHT CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND RETURNED TO GRR. AFTER AN INSPECTION BY THE MECHANIC, IT WAS DETERMINED THE SPILL VALVE SWITCH WAS FAULTY.
