AT CRUISE ALTITUDE EN ROUTE TO PDX, THE #1 ENGINE FIRE WARNING ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ON. THE FLIGHT CREW PERFORMED AN IN FLIGHT ENGINE SHUTDOWN AND CALLED IN FOR AN EMERGENCY LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT ARRIVED TO PDX WITHOUT FURTHER ISSUES. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT ONCE IT WAS RELEASED FROM ARFF AND DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WARNING INDICATION WAS FALSE AND THAT A DIRTY FIRE DETECTOR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE INDICATION AT CRUISE ALTITUDE. THE MAINTENANCE CREW INSPECTED ALL WIRING AND DETECTORS AND DETERMINED THAT NO OTHER DEFECTS WERE PRESENT. THE FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM WAS OPERATIONALLY CHECKED SUCCESSFULLY BEFORE THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

PILOT PERFORMED AIR RETURN DUE TO ATTITUDE INDICATOR 8 DEGREES OFF BUT UPON RETURNING TO KPDX THE LOW HYDRAULIC FLUID LEVEL ANNUNCIATOR ILLUMINATED AND HE DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. DURING TROUBLESHOOTING, MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED CAPTAINS ATTITUDE INDICATOR. OPERATIONAL CHECKS WERE GOOD. MAINTENANCE ALSO ADDRESSED LOW HYDRAULIC FLUID LEVEL ANNUNCIATOR BY SERVICING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM AS REQUIRED. AIRSPEED INDICATOR WAS REPLACED BUT WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE DECLARATION OF AN EMERGENCY BY THE PILOT, NO PARTS WERE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE HYDRAULIC FLUID LEVEL ANNUNCIATOR.

THE FLIGHT CREW REPORTED THAT DURING APPROACH TO KGEG THE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND WITH THE GEAR HANDLE IN THE DOWN POSITION. TOWER VERIFIED THAT GEAR WAS NOT DOWN. THE GEAR RELAY CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS POPPED AND AFTER PUSHING IT IN IT WOULD NOT STAY IN. PILOT PERFORMED MANUAL GEAR EXTENSION. PILOT DID DECLARE AN EMERGENCY. LANDED AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE TROUBLESHOT SYSTEM TO A SHORT ON WIRE G11B22, LOCATED UNDER THE FLOOR. MAINTENANCE REPAIRED SHORT IN WIRE AND PERFORMED SIX FULL GEAR CYCLES AND ALL THE CYCLES CHECKED GOOD. NO PART CHANGES WERE REQUIRED FOR THIS ISSUE.

MAINTENANCE REPLACED NUMBER THREE BRAKE ASSEMBLY. OPS CHECKED GOOD.

CLIMBING OUT OF ABOUT 1500-2000 AGL. THERE WAS SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE FUEL GAUGES, CREW TURNING OFF THE MASTER LIGHT SWITCH ON THE OVERHEAD PANEL AND THEN FOLLOWED THE EMERGENCY CHECKLIST FOR SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT. CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND REQUESTED THE ILS 34R. CREW RECEIVED VECTORS TO THE FINAL APPROACH COARSE AND CAME BACK AND LANDED 34R WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL INCIDENT. SLC MAINTENANCE TROUBLESHOT AND FOUND BURNT FUEL EDGE LIGHTING PANEL, DISCONNECTED DAMAGED PANEL AND DEFERRED PER MEL 33-01-00.
