ON APPROACH INTO BED THE APU START COMMANDED ON ABOUT A 4-5 MI FINAL AT ABOUT 1500FT AGL. AT 300-400FT AGL A RED APU FIRE CAS ILLUMINATED & AURAL WARNING WAS OVERHEARD. APU FIRE & FIRE EXT 2 SWITCHES PRESSED. APU FIRE CAS EXTINGUISHED & APU WAS OBSERVED WITH DECREASING RPM. A NORMAL LANDING & TAXI OCCURRED, NO OUTSIDE OBSERVERS REPORTED ANYTHING, NO EMERGENCY DECLARED. INFLIGHT APU FIRE QRC & QRH COMPLETED. FOUND EXIT/EXHAUST DUCT COLLAPSED. PERFORMED A GVI OF APU WITH NO FINDINGS APU LOOKS NORMAL R & R NR 2 FIRE BOTTLE. INSTALLED NEW SQUIBS IAW AMM 26-21-01, 26-21-05. PERFORMED OPS TEST OF ENG & APU FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYS IAW AMM 26•11-00. R & R MUFFLER ASSY IAW AMM 49·81-01 .RAN APU, NO FAULTS NOTED.

ALL OPERATIONAL CHECKS SATISFACTORY. RETURNED AIRCRAFT TO NORMAL CONFIGURATION.

ATC NOT ABLE TO GET ANYTHING BUT A PRIMARY RETURN, REGARDLESS OF WHICH TRANSPONDER SELECTED. PERFORMED THE OPS CHECKS OF THE TRANSPONDER WITH SATISFACTORY RESULTS REF CL 350 AMM 34-54-01. PERFORMED THE FOLLOW ON CHECKS AFTER RERACKING THE JB4 WITH SATISFACTORY RESULTS UP TO THE RETRACTION FUNCTIONAL CHECKS IAW AMM 24-63-13. JACKED AIRCRAFT & PERFORMED MULTIPLE OPS MLG SWINGS, NO DEFECTS NOTED IAW AMM 32-30-00. RETURNED TO ITS ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION.

PERFORMED SATISFACTORY FUNCTIONAL TEST IAW TASK 27-52-00-720-801. PARTS: PUMP, HYDRAULIC, VARIABLE DELIVERY (PN: 51160-06, SN: K1008) PUMP, DC MOTOR, BRUSHLESS (PN: 53110-02, SN: K0153) UNIT, FLAP POWER (PN: 1751A0000-04, SN: 00585).
