AFTER EXTENDING THE LANDING GEAR ON APPROACH, FLIGHT CREW NOTED ALL 3 GEAR GREEN DOWN/LOCKED INDICATION LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED, BUT ALSO THE RED UNLOCK LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. CREW CYCLED THE GEAR BUT THERE WAS NO CHANGE. A GO AROUND WAS INITIATED AND ONCE AT A SAFE ALTITUDE THE ISSUE WAS TROUBLESHOT. PER THE CHECKLIST, FLIGHT CREW PERFORMED AN EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENSION, HOWEVER THE RED UNLOCK LIGHT REMAINED LIT. A FLY-BY OVER THE RUNWAY WAS CONDUCTED SO THE TOWER COULD ASSESS WHETHER THE GEAR APPEARED TO BE FULLY DOWN, AT WHICH TIME ATC INFORMED THE CREW THAT THE GEAR LOOKED NORMAL. AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED, AND THE CREW LANDED SAFELY WITH NO ISSUES. MAINTENANCE TROUBLESHOT THE ISSUE WITH LIMITED RESOURCES AND INSPECTED THE GEAR, WITH NO DEFECTS FOUND. A SPECIAL FLIGHT PERMIT WAS ISSUED, AND THE AIRCRAFT IS TO BE FERRIED TO A SERVICE CENTER FOR FURTHER TROUBLESHOOTING. A SUPPLEMENTAL SDR WILL BE SUBMITTED WHEN THE FINDINGS ARE KNOWN. FURTHER TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED THAT THE LH MLG UPLOCK RELEASE CABLE WAS FOUND OUT OF ADJUSTMENT WITH HAVING TOO MUCH TENSION, PREVENTING THE UPLOCK FROM PROPERLY LATCHING. THE RELEASE CABLE WAS ADJUSTED TO THE CORRECT TENSION AND LANDING GEAR OPERATIONAL CHECKS PERFORMED, WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

DURING LANDING INTO ASE, FLIGHT CREW RECEIVED A FLAPS FAIL CAS MESSAGE. FLAPS WERE STUCK AT A GREATER THAN 5 DEGREE POSITION. CREW RAN THE CHECKLIST, DECLARED AN EMERGENCY FOR FLAPS FAIL, ALSO MINIMUM FUEL, AND DIVERTED TO DEN WHERE THEY LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. WHILE TROUBLESHOOTING THE ISSUE, MAINTENANCE FOUND A FAULTY LT FLAP POSITION SENSOR ALONG WITH THE LT NR 4 AND RT NR 3 FLAP ACTUATORS GETTING EXCESSIVELY HOT WHEN OPERATED. THE POSITION SENSOR (P/N: 9914510-4), LT NR 4 ACTUATOR (P/N: 9914502-2) AND THE RT NR 3 ACTUATOR (P/N: 9914502-1) WERE REPLACED WITH NEW. FLAP OPERATIONAL CHECK WAS NORMAL. A SATISFACTORY CONFIDENCE FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED AND THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.

DURING CLIMB OUT THROUGH FL350 FOR FL450, THE FLIGHT CREW RECEIVED A FMS SINGLE OPERATION MODE MESSAGE ON THE RIGHT FMS AND THE LEFT FMS DISPLAY WENT BLANK FOLLOWED BY THE DU 1 DISPLAY GOING BLANK, FOLLOWED BY BATT 1 OVER CURRENT MESSAGE AND THE AUTOPILOT DISENGAGING. THE LEFT SIDE AUTOMATICALLY ELECTRICALLY ISOLATED WITH THE CROSS TIE OPEN. THEN, MANY EICAS MESSAGES POSTED ALL AT ONCE, INCLUDING “A” RUDDER LIMITER FAIL AND DU 1 FAIL. THE CREW BEGAN ABNORMAL PROCEDURES, EMER BUS ON THE LEFT SIDE WAS SELECTED AND A HEAVY ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL WAS SENSED IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT SEEING ANY SMOKE. THE EMER BUS WAS DESELECTED AND BATT 1 TURNED OFF AS THE CREW NOTICED BATT 1 WAS DISCHARGING AT -199 AMPS. WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ONBOARD FIRE, THE FLIGHT CREW AGREED TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY AND DIVERT INTO PSP. AFTER TURNING OFF BATT 1, THE BURNING ODOR STARTED TO LESSEN. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. A HEAVY BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL WAS NOTED COMING FROM THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT. MAINTENANCE FOUND DIODE IN THE LH POWER J-BOX HAD SHORTED INTERNALLY, WHICH CAUSED THE AVIONICS CONTACTOR TO OPEN; DAMAGING THE LH AVIONICS RELAY (KZ003), WIRING AND CONNECTOR. AS A RESULT OF THE SHORT, DAMAGED WIRES WERE ALSO NOTED TO THE AVIONICS MASTER SWITCH AND AFT PRESSURE BULKHEAD FEED THROUGH CONNECTOR. ALL VISIBLE AND ACCESSIBLE DAMAGED WIRING AND COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FERRIED TO A MAINTENANCE FACILITY FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND REPAIRS. ACCESS WAS GAINED, AND ADDITIONAL WIRING WAS REPLACED.

WHILE CONDUCTING A MAINTENANCE CONFIDENCE FLIGHT FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE, AND REACHING AN ALTITUDE OF APPROXIMATELY FL200, FLIGHT CREW EXPERIENCED SEVERAL THUMPS FROM THE NOSE GEAR AND NOTED THE RED UNLOCK ANNUNCIATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE THUMPING STOPPED AND THE CREW ELECTED TO CONTINUE SINCE THERE WERE NO ISSUES AFFECTING FLIGHT AT THIS TIME. SOON AFTER AT APPROXIMATELY FL250 THE THUMPING FROM THE NOSE GEAR STARTED AGAIN AND THE DECISION WAS MADE TO RETURN TO DEPARTURE. DURING THE RETURN TO DEPARTURE AND WHILE ON DESCENT BELOW FL180 THE LANDING GEAR WAS CYCLED TO ENSURE IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY, AT WHICH TIME ONLY THE TWO MAIN GEAR WERE INDICATING DOWN AND LOCKED, ALONG WITH A RED UNLOCK ANNUNCIATOR. THE FLIGHT CREW RAN THE CHECKLIST, BUT WERE STILL UNSUCCESSFUL IN LOWERING THE NOSE GEAR, AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED AT THIS POINT. A LOW APPROACH WAS EXECUTED AND THE CREW WAS INFORMED BY AIRPORT OPS THAT THE NOSE GEAR WAS PARTIALLY EXTENDED. FOLLOWING SUFFICIENT FUEL BURN AND FURTHER ATTEMPTS TO LOWER THE NOSE GEAR, A SUCCESSFUL LANDING WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITH MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT. OPEN

WHEN THE LANDING GEAR WAS RETRACTED ON CLIMB OUT, THE FLIGHT CREW RECEIVED A "HYD PUMP A FAIL" WARNING MESSAGE. HYDR PRESSURE WAS NOTED AT ZERO AND QUANTITY NOTED AT 3 PERCENT. THE NOSE GEAR INDICATED DOWN AND LOCKED AND THE RED GEAR HANDLE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE APPROPRIATE CHECKLIST WAS FOLLOWED AND THE PTU CIRCUIT BREAKER PULLED. THE FLIGHT CREW DECIDED TO CONTINUE THE SHORT FLIGHT TO THE PLANNED DESTINATION DUE TO FAVORABLE LANDING CONDITIONS. AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED 15 MINUTES OUT. THE ACFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON INSP BY MX, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE NLG CENTERING HYDR LINE (P/N S3128B0166-000G) HAD FAILED AT THE HOSE/FITTING JOINT. THE FAULTY HOSE WAS REPLACED AND HYDR SYS SERVICED. OPS CHECKS WERE NORMAL.
