UPON STARTING ENGINES BOTH EFIS SCREENS EXHIBITED GHOSTING AND ARTIFACTS. AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE NUMBERS OF THE COMPASS CARD DISAPPEARED AND RED BOXES APPEARED IN BOTH SCREENS. REMOVED DPU P/N: 622-4682-004 S/N: 143CN AND INSTALLED DPU P/N: 622-4682-004 S/N: 813. ALL WORK DONE IAW COLLINS EFIS-84 IM P/N: 523-0775965 PAR. 2.7.7.1 F&G PAR. 2.7.7.2 PAR. 2.8.2. FUNCTION CHECKED GOOD. NO DEFECTS NOTED.
LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE ON THE LEFT ENGINE. REPLACED ENGINE DRIVEN FUEL PUMP ACCESSORY DRIVE SEAL. REPLACED PRIMARY GOVERNOR DUE TO LOW OIL PRESSURE. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
UPON APPROACH TO LANDING THE LEFT ENGINE PROPELLER WAS OBSERVED TO ENTER AN OVERSPEED CONDITION FROM 1900 TO 2420 RPM. THE ENGINE WAS SHUT DOWN AS A PRECAUTION AND LANDING WAS MADE WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE, THE FUEL CONTROL WAS REMOVED AND THE DRIVE COUPLING WAS OBSERVED TO BE DAMAGED, AND THE FUEL CONTROL DRIVE BEARING WAS ROUGH AND HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY. THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE DAMAGE APPEARED TO BE THE FAILED FUEL CONTROL DRIVE BEARING, WHICH RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE DRIVE COUPLING AND A SUBSEQUENT INCREASE IN FUEL BEYOND WHAT THE GOVERNORS COULD EFFECTIVELY CONTROL ONCE THE FUEL CONTROL INPUT RPM SLOWED BEYOND WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT THAT POINT.
PILOT REPORTED THAT WHILE IN ROUTE, SMELLED WHAT HE THOUGHT WOULD BE ENG OIL SMOKE. HE WAS CLOSE TO DESTINATION AT THE TIME SO HE SHUT OFF THE ENG BLEED VLVS & FOUND THE PROBLEM TO GO AWAY. THE ACFT WAS GROUNDED FOR MORE TROUBLESHOOTING & REPAIR. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE NR 2 ENG HAD OIL BEING BURNT IN THE COMPRESSOR SECTION & THE ENG WILL BE SENT BACK TO THE OVERHAUL FACILITY FOR TEAR DOWN & EVALUATION.
SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTURE, EXPERIENCED AN EADI FAILURE, WHILE STAYING IN VFR CONDITIONS RETURNED TO DEPARTURE. TROUBLESHOT THE SYS WHILE RETURNING TO AIRPORT BY CYCLING THE EFIS AND INVERTERS AND WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE EADI TO COME BACK ON. MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
