AFTER FMS 1 FAILED, STARTED TO SMELL A BURNING PLASTIC TYPE OF ODOR. WHEN ADDING THROTTLE, COULD SMELL THE SCENT MORE, ESPECIALLY WHEN TAXING. POWEREDACFT & TURNED ON ALL SYS & PERFORMED MULTIPLE ENG RUNS IAW MCCS REQUEST & DIDN'T SMELL OR SEE ANY SIGNS OF BURNING PLASTIC. PERFORMED TORQUE CHK OF ACM IAW MM 21-52-13. RAN ALL SYSTEMS IN CABIN, MONITORED CONTROL SCREENS, & LIGHTS IAW MM 24-31-00. CONCLUDED THAT BUMING ODOR NOTED BY THE PILOTS WOULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE CDU 1 WHEN IT FAILED. NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED.

IMMEDIATELY UPON ADVANCING THE THROTTLES TO THE TAKEOFF DETENT, THE AIRCRAFT FILLED WITH A STRONG SULPHUR SMELL. ABORTED THE TAKEOFF SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 40 AND 60KTS AND TAXIIED CLEAR OF THE RUNWAY. PULLING INTO THE BLOCKS, THE PACK TEMP HIGH CAS MESSAGE POSTED. AFTER SHUTDOWN, AND WITH THE APU STILL RUNNING, STEPPED BACK INTO THE CABIN. TEMPERATURE WAS EXTREMELY HIGH, & CABIN SMELLED VERY HOT. THE AIR COND TEMP HIGH CAS MESSAGE POSTED. IMMEDIATELY SHUTDOWN THE APU, UPON WHICH THE SMELL DISSIPATED. REMOVED SEIZED ACM AND INSTALLED REPAIRED ACM IAW 21-52-03; OPS CHECK SATISFACTORY
