BOTH PROX SWITCH 1 AND 2 HARNESSES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE GEAR RETRACTS NORMALLY. OPS CHECKED GOOD. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.

THE GEAR WAS CYCLED & A SECOND ATTEMPT FAILED. AN EMER WAS DECLARED & A FLY BY THE TOWER WAS PERFORMED TO CHECK IF GEAR WAS DOWN. TOWER REPORTED GEAR APPEARED TO BE DOWN & LOCKED. CREW ATTEMPTED TO PUT GEAR DOWN AGAIN, THIS TIME SUCCESSFULLY. ACFT PERFORMED A NORMAL LANDING. CLEANED & REINSTALLED LT MLG SELF-CLEANING VLV & ADJUSTED THE LT MLG DOWN LOCK PROXIMITY SWITCHES. DURING CLIMB OUT, PILOT NOTICED THE FDAU LIGHT ON THE FLIGHT RECORDER, SHORTLY AFTER, BOTH PILOTS SMELLED SMOKE. TURNED BACK AND RETURNED TO DEPARTURE, LANDING WITHOUT INCIDENT.
DURING APPROACH, CREW NOTICED A STRONG SMOKE ODOR IN THE COCKPIT AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY, LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MX DETERMINED THE FDAU HAD FAILED IN FLIGHT CAUSING THE SMOKE ODOR. THE FDAU WAS REPLACED AND OPS CHECKS WERE SUCCESSFUL.
