APU FIRE INDICATION IN FLIGHT @ AROUND 13K APU SOV PUSHED IN APU EXT BOTTLE PUSHED, CREW RESPONDED QUICKLY AND CORRECTLY VIA MEMORY ITEMS AND QRH UTILIZING THE FIRE EXTINGUISHING BOTTLE. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO FIELD, GVI WAS PERFORMED PER AMM 05 INSPECTIONS, NO INDICATIONS OF ANY FIRE WERE FOUND. FURTHER TROUBLESHOOTING OF SYSTEM WITH FIM 26-12-00 FOUND THAT THE APU FIRE DETECTOR FAILED RESISTANCE CHECK CAUSING THE FALSE WARNING AND INDICATION. APU FIRE BOTTLE AND CARTRIDGE REPLACED.

THE FLIGHT CREW REPORTED THAT DURING FLIGHT WITH HYDRAULIC SYSTEM ON NO1 RUDDER SYSTEM CAUTION ILLUMINATED ON EICAS. THE MAINTENANCE VENDOR TROUBLESHOT AND DETERMINED THAT THE NO1 RUDDER PRESSURE SWITCH TO BE DEFECTIVE. THE SWITCH WAS REMOVED AND A NEW PRESSURE SWITCH WAS INSTALLED. OPS AND LEAK CHECKS WERE SATISFACTORY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

CHECK LIST FOLLOWED, SMOKE EVACUATION PROCEDURE, EMERGENCY DESCENT WAS PERFORMED, EMERGENCY DECLARED, AND UNSCHEDULED LANDING AT ALTERNATE AIRPORT PERFORMED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE EVALUATION FOUND NR 1 AIR CYCLE MACHINE AS CAUSE AND SOURCE OF WHITE SMOKE. ACM WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED. P/N 815240-3 S/N OFF 200402017 S/N ON 200005248.
