Maintenance disclosures
WHEN STARTING LEFT ENGINE AND BRINGING LEFT GENERATOR ON LINE IT WOULD NOT COME ON LINE. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE IGNITION STARTER WAS OFF AND IT WAS. I SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND 30 SECONDS LATER SMOKE WAS POURING OUT OF THE LEFT COWLING. WE SMELLED ELECTRICAL BURNING.
CRACKS HAVE BEEN FOUND IN THE FIELD DURING ROUTINE VISUAL INSPECTIONS OF ENGINE MOUNT TRUSS/COWLING MOUNT ATTACH BRACKETS. THE CRACKS FOUND ARE ALMOST ALWAYS EXCLUSIVE TO THE UPPER RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT TRUSS (NR 1 ENGINE TRUSS UPPER INBOARD, NR 2 ENGINE TRUSS UPPER OUTBOARD). WE BELIEVE THE CRACKS ARE OCCURRING DUE TO EXCESSIVE VIBRATION CONDITIONS OR INADEQUATE WELD QUALITY DURING MANUFACTURING PROCESS. THE AFFECTED ENGINE TRUSS PART NUMBER IS 101-910122-69. REPAIR OPTIONS CONSIST OF COMPLYING WITH BEECHCRAFT STANDARD REPAIR TITLED-CRACK, ENGINE MOUNT TRUSS, COWLING MOUNTING BRACKETS, DRAWING NO. SR-KA-00034, REV 1, OR REPLACING CRACKED ENGINE TRUSS WITH APPLICABLE PART NUMBER REFERENCED IN CURRENT BEECHCRAFT KING AIR 300 SERIES ILLUSTRATED PARTS CATALOG.
DURING CRUISE FLIGHT, THE CREW NOTICED THE RUDDER & AILERON TRIM TABS BECOMING VERY STIFF & DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. THE ACFT WAS EXPOSED TO MOISTURE & FREEZING TEMPERATURES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. DURING LANDING TRIM OPERATED NORMALLY WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. REMOVED MOISTURE & LUBED TRIM ACTUATORS. ACFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.
CLIMBING THROUGH 18000â MSL THE RT BLEED FAIL ANNUNCIATOR ILLUMINATED. CREW SECURED RT BLEED SWITCH TO PNEUMATIC & ENVIRONMENTAL OFF. COMPLIED WITH CHECKLIST & DIVERTED TO KBEC. LANDING WAS UNEVENTFUL. R & R THE RT OTBD NACELLE BLEED AIR SENSE LINE. A SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONAL CHECK WAS PERFORMED & THE ACFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.
