ALTERNATE EXTENSION PROCEDURES WERE FOLLOWED AND AIRCRAFT LANDED SAFELY. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED LEFT GEAR AND DOORS AND NOTED NO OBVIOUS DEFECTS. PROXIMITY SENSOR ON FORWARD GEAR DOOR ACTUATOR WAS FOUND TO BE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT. SENSOR WAS ADJUSTED AND GEAR WAS SWUNG ON GROUND IAW MM PROCEDURES. CHECKS WERE GOOD. HYDRAULIC SYSTEM WAS BLED AND SERVICED. AIRCRAFT WAS RELEASED FOR EVALUATION FLIGHT. EVALUATION FLIGHT WAS SATISFACTORY AND AIRCRAFT WAS RELEASED FOR SERVICE. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SUPPLIED.
NR 2 ENGINE SURGED DURING CLIMB, TORQUE, FUEL FLOW, AND AIRCRAFT SURGED. A 3.5 TO 4 INCH KNOB SPLIT WITH NR 2 ADVANCED DURING APPROACH. REPLACED NR 2 HMU, OPERATIONAL AND LEAK CHECKS GOOD.
WHILE PAINTING THE AIRCRAFT, RIVET HEADS WERE FOUND TO HAVE BEEN SANDED DOWN ON THE LT ELEVATOR LOWER SKIN. REMOVED AND REPLACED THE RIVETS IAW SRM 51-40-00 AND EO 8- 57-07-3382.

FLIGHT 3806 LGA TO BURLINGTON EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE LEFT MAIN GEAR DOOR FAILING TO RETRACT. THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO LGA AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. AIRCRAFT FERRIED TO MIDDLETOWN FOR MAINTENANCE. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ATTACH POINT FOR THE PRE MOD GEAR DOOR ACTUATOR HAD BACKED OUT DUE TO THE FAILSAFE RETAINING TAB BEING BROKEN OFF, WHICH ALLOWED THE ACTUATOR PIVOT PIN TO MISALIGN AND PREVENT PROPER UPLOCK. FAILSAFE WAS REPLACED AND THE GEAR OPERATIONAL CHECKED. ALL CHECKS GOOD AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
NR 2 SMOKE DETECTOR INOPERATIVE DURING TEST. MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED NR 2 UNIT AND OPERATIONAL CHECKS WERE GOOD. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
REPORTED SMOKE FROM THE OVERHEAD LIGHT ABOVE SEATS IN ROW 8 AND 9.MAINTENANCE COMPLIED WITH MEL AND REMOVED THE LAMP AND PULLED AND BANDED ASSOCIATED CIRCUIT BREAKER. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
FLIGHT 3755 FROM SYRACUSE HAD TO RETURN TO GATE DUE TO RECEIVING THE TAKEOFF WARNING HORN WITH THE AIRCRAFT PROPERLY CONFIGURED FOR TAKEOFF. MAINTENANCE FOUND THE LT CONDITION LEVER SWITCH 3151-S3 TO BE STICKING. MAINTENANCE REPLACED SWITCH AND OPERATIONAL CHECKED SYSTEM, ALL CHECKS GOOD. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
AIRCRAFT 839EX, FLIGHT NR 3698, ROCHESTER, HAD TO PERFORM A SECOND GEAR SWING DUE TO AN AMBER LEFT GEAR DOOR LIGHT REMAINING ILLUMINATED AFTER GEAR RETRACTION. CREW PERFORMED GEAR SWING AND THE LIGHT EXTINGUISHED ON SECOND ATTEMPT. MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED THE LEFT HAND FORWARD GEAR DOOR ACTUATOR AND ALL OPERATIONAL CHECKS AND LEAK CHECKS WERE GOOD, AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.
DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE VISIT FOUR RED FLOOR EMERGENCY LIGHTS AT ROW 4 WERE FOUND TO BE INOPERATIVE. ALSO, FORWARD AND AFT LEFT AND RIGHT UPPER SIDEWALL EMERGENCY LIGHTS WERE FOUND TO BE INOPERATIVE. EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEM WAS TROUBLESHOT AND A BURNT WIRE ON A POST CONNECTOR FOR POSITION 500 POWER SUPPLY WAS FOUND. POWER SUPPLY WAS REPLACED AT POSITION 500. ALSO FOUND WAS A BAD DIODE FOR THE RED FLOOR LIGHTS. DIODE WAS REPLACED. ALL EMERGENCY LIGHT BATTERIES WERE REPLACED DURING TROUBLESHOOTING. OPERATIONAL CHECK OF ALL EMERGENCY LIGHTS WAS GOOD. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.

AIRCRAFT GROUND RAN WITH BOTH BLEEDS ON FOR 20 MINUTES. OPERATIONAL CHECK WAS GOOD ON THE GROUND. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE. AS A FOLLOW UP ON 18 MARCH 2003, RIGHT ENGINE ASSEMBLY SERIAL NUMBER 121354 WAS REPLACED DUE TO A HISTORY OF ODOR IN BLEED AND OIL CONSUMPTION.
PJL-FLIGHT 3800 CREW REPORTED A BURNT OIL ODOR FROM BLEEDS WITH POWER BELOW 30 PERCENT TORQUE DURING DESCENT. ODOR WAS MORE NOTICEABLE ON THE NR 2 ENGINE. MAINTENANCE RAN THE AUXILIARY POWER UNIT BLEED AND FOUND NO DEFECTS. BOTH ENGINES WERE RUN WITH P3 AIR ON, AND NO OIL ODOR WAS NOTED FROM EITHER ENGINE. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
