RIGHT AFTER LIFTOFF, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE LEFT ENGINE WITH FLAMES EMITTING FROM THE EXHAUST. COMMENCED A PRECAUTIONARY ENGINE SHUTDOWN, FEATHERED THE PROPELLER AND RETURNED TO THE FIELD FOR A SINGLE ENGINE LANDING. TAXIED BACK TO THE BLOCK.
