Maintenance disclosures
DURING GROUND MAINTENANCE RUN, RT OIL PRESSURE INPUT TO ZERO AND FLAGGED OFF. INSPECTION REVEALED END BROKE OFF TRANSDUCER AT CONNECTOR PLUG. REPLACED TRANSDUCER. OPERATIONAL AND LEAK TEST, SATISFACTORY.
PILOT REPORTED SPEED BRAKES WOULD NOT DEPLOY. CONFIRMED MALFUNCTION DURING GROUND TEST. TROUBLESHOT SYSTEM. FOUND DEFECTIVE SWITCH S202 (RT RETRACT LIMIT). REPLACED SWITCH IAW MM, OPERATIONAL TEST SATISFACTORY.
WHEN PILOT OPENED CABIN DOOR, A GUST OF WIND CAUGHT DOOR AND SLAMMED IT INTO STOP. PILOT REPORTED A LOUD (POP) AND PAINT FELL FROM DOOR HINGE. INSPECTION REVEALED LOWER LEG OF DOOR HINGE HAD BROKEN. DISASSEMBLY REVEALED EVIDENCE OF A PRE EXISTING SUBSURFACE CRACK IN CASTING, 3 INCH AFT OF HINGE BEARING. A SURFACE CRACK 1INCH LONG 1.5 INCH AFT OF HINGE BEARING WAS HIDDEN BY HEAVY PAINT COATING. THESE CRACKS WOULD NOT BE VISIBLE WITHOUT PAINT REMOVAL. RECOMMEND PAINT BE REMOVED AND CAST PORTION OF HINGE INSPECTED UNDER MAGNIFICATION AT 500 HR INTERVALS.
DURING PHASE 1 INSPECTION, FLAP MOTOR OPERATIONAL TEST, THE LEFT MOTOR WOULD NOT DRIVE FLAPS. THE FLAP DRIVE WAS INSPECTED AND LEFT SPROCKET WAS FOUND BROKEN IN TWO. THIS CAUSED MOTOR TO BE INEFFECTIVE. NO BINDING OF FLAPS WAS FOUND. THE SPROCKET WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW UNIT AND OPERATIONAL TEST WERE SATISFACTORY.
