THE FLIGHT CREW NOTED A STRONG FUEL ODOR IN THE AFT CABIN, UPON INVESTIGATION, FUEL WAS FOUND ON THE AFT EQUIPMENT ACCESS DOOR AND UNDER THE APU. THE APU SHROUD WAS OPENED AND THE FUEL MANIFOLD WAS REMOVED AND IT WAS DISCOVERED TO HAVE A SMALL PINHOLE IN ONE OF THE MAIN FUEL LINES WHICH WAS LEAKING ONTO THE APU AND CAUSING THE FUEL ODOR. THE MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED AND NO LEAKS WERE FOUND. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. (K)
CLIMBING THROUGH 13,000 FEET, LEFT GENERATOR FAILED, NO RESET CAPABILITY, AUTO-PILOT TRIPPED OFF, BOTH NR 1 AND NR 2 INVERTERS FAILED. BATTERY-ON HORN KEPT HONKING INTERMITTENTLY AT 2 TIMES PER SECOND RATE. ALL CO-PILOT FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS FLAGGED OFF. ALL PILOT FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS FLAGGED OFF, EXCEPT FOR PILOT''''S ADI HORIZON. AIRCRAFT LANDED AT PTK WITHOUT INCIDENT. CHANGED RIGHT BATTERY CONTACTOR, FIXED THE PROBLEM. (M)
WHILE BENCH SERVICING ON AVIONICS STANDBY BATTERY (NR 4), (CA 125 SINTERED PLATE N1 CAD BATTERY MFG P/N 27518-001), MARATHON POWER TECHNOLOGIES, WACO, TX). TECHNICIAN FOUND APPROXIMATELY 1-1/2 OUNCES OF JET A FUEL INSIDE THE BATTERY CASE. NEXT, THE CURRENT BATTERY INSTALLED IN HS.125-700A N943CE WAS CHECKED AND FOUND TO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT QUANTITY OF FUEL. THE DORSAL TANK WAS FOUND LEAKING AND THE FEED AND VENT PLUMBING SEAL WAS FOUND LEAKING INTO THE AFT EQUIPMENT BAY. FAILURE OF THE FEED AND VENT PLUMBING SEAL AND A BATTERY COVER THAT IS MADE WITH ONLY TWO SIDES ALLOWED FUEL TO ENTER THIS EXPLOSIVE IGNITION SOURCE.
