Maintenance disclosures
WHILE ENROUTE FROM KSUS TO KDTO THE RIGHT ENGINE HAD AN UNCOMMANDED SHUT DOWN IN FLIGHT. THE FLIGHT CREW ASKED ACT TO LAND AT THE NEAREST AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS CLEARED TO LAND AT KFSM WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS.
WHILE EN ROUTE TO MCI THE FLIGHT CREW ELECTED TO SHUT DOWN THE RIGHT ENGINE AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE DUE TO ERRATIC PROPELLER SPEED INDICATION AND DIVERTED TO COU. EXDA MAINTENANCE WAS DISPATCHED TO COU AND INSPECTED THE PROPELLER RIGGING IAW SHORTS MAINTENANCE MANUAL, NO DEFECTS FOUND. THE AIRCRAFT WAS OPERATIONALLY CHECKED AND THE MAXIUM STATIC TAKEOFF POWER RUNS WERE SATISFACTORILY PERFORMED IAW THE SHORTS MAINTENANCE MANUAL. THE DISCREPANCY COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED ALL SYSTEMS OPERATIONALLY CHECKED NORMAL. N973AA WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE ON 8/11/2007.
FLOAT WAS INSPECTED, AND WAS DETERMINED TO BE EXTREMELY CORRODED AND IN AN IMMANENT FAILURE CONDITION.
THE ECU, SN JG7ALK0380 FAILED AND WENT INTO THE MANUAL MODE. ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO DOWNLOAD INFORMATION FROM THE ECU WITH NO RESULTS. REMOVED THE DEFECTIVE ECU. INSTALLED SERVICEABLE ECU. GROUND RAN AIRCRAFT. ALL SYSTEMS FUNCTIONALLY CHECKED OK. GROUNDED AIRCRAFT, AND SENT DEFECTIVE UNIT TO CHANDLER EVANS FOR EVALUATION UNTIL RECORDING DATA COULD BE RETRIEVED TO DETERMINE ANY EXCEEDENCES.
DURING GROUND RUN AFTER ANNUAL INSPECTION, ENGINE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WENT FROM A NORMAL INDICATION TO ZERO. TROUBLESHOOTING THE PROBLEM, FOUND ENGINE OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR FAILED. REMOVED FAULTY INDICATOR AND INSTALLED NEW INDICATOR. FUNCTIONAL CHECK OK.
DURING C/W ASB 407-98-17, THE VERTICAL FIN WAS FOUND DAMAGED BEYOND THE MAXIMUM LIMIT. ACTUAL DEPTH IS APPROXIMATE DEPTH OF .027 INCH. REPLACED FIN WITH NEW FIN P/N 206-020-113-255A S/N BP-2653.
TORQUE INDICATOR READINGS ERRATIC. TROUBLESHOT SYSTEM, REPLACED TORQUE TRANSMITTER WITH NEW ASSY, FUNCTIONAL CHECK OK.
