Probable cause
THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER DUE TO THE ICE IN THE FUEL STRAINER/GASCALATOR. CONTRIBUTING WAS: THE INADEQUATE PREFLIGHT PREPARATION BY THE PILOT, AND UNSUITABLE TERRAIN ON WHICH TO MAKE THE FORCED LANDING.
