Probable cause

FUEL EXHAUSTION DUE TO FUEL SIPHONING IN FLIGHT FROM AN UNSECURED FILLER CAP. THE INACCURATE PREFLIGHT INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT BY THE PILOT WAS ALSO CAUSAL IN THIS ACCIDENT.
