Maintenance disclosure history

Service Difficulty Reports are self-reported maintenance findings. The NUMBER of reports is not a measure of reliability — diligent operators file more, not fewer. These are shown for transparency, not as a negative signal. To verify a report, search its control number at the FAA SDRS site.

Reports span 1998–2021. Most-reported systems: Air conditioning & press. (21) — 1; Fuel (28) — 1; Fuselage (53) — 1. Most-common natures of condition, as filed: OTHER — 1; OVER TEMP; SMOKE/FUMES/ODORS/SPARKS — 1; SMOKE/FUMES/ODORS/SPARKS — 1.

Part: MOTOR — OVERHEATED (BLOWER)

THE PILOT REPORTED A BURNING RESIN ARDOR IN THE COCKPIT AND A SPONTANEOUS FAILURE OF THE AIR CONDITIONING. THE PILOT REPORTS THAT HE HAD JUST PICKED THE AIRCRAFT UP INTO A HOVER AND WAS PREPARING TO DEPART BASE WHEN THE FAILURE OF THE AIR CONDITIONING OCCURRED. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT AND PERFORMED A NORMAL SHUT DOWN. MAINTENANCE WAS ADVISED AND THE AIRCRAFT INSPECTED, THE CAUSE WAS QUICKLY ISOLATED TO THE FORWARD LEFT SIDE EVAPORATOR BLOWER MOTOR WHICH WAS WARM TO THE TOUCH. THE MOTOR WAS REMOVED AND FOUND TO BE SEIZED. THE MOTOR HAD RECENTLY BEEN REPLACED AND HAD ONLY 5.4 HOURS SINCE INSTALLATION. EVAPORATOR BLOWER CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPPED AND CAUSED AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM TO EFFECTIVELY BECOME INOPERATIVE. THIS TYPE OF MOTOR HAS HAD A LOW FAIL RATE. CAUSE NOT KNOWN. MOTOR REPLACED
