Maintenance disclosure history
Service Difficulty Reports are self-reported maintenance findings. The NUMBER of reports is not a measure of reliability — diligent operators file more, not fewer. These are shown for transparency, not as a negative signal. To verify a report, search its control number at the FAA SDRS site.
Reports span 1998–2023. Most-reported systems: Landing gear (32) — 2; Air conditioning & press. (21) — 1; Flight controls (27) — 1. Most-common natures of condition, as filed: OTHER — 2; SIGNIFICANT FAILURE REPORT — 1; SMOKE/FUMES/ODORS/SPARKS — 1.

Part: BLOWER — WORN (ZONE 100) · airframe 14,912 hrs · 14,403 cycles
DURING CRUISE, PASSENGERS REPORTED SMELLING SMOKE IN THE CABIN. PIC DECLARED EMERGENCY AND LANDED AT DBQ WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL DETERMINED THAT THE FORWARD CABIN VENTILATION BLOWER WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SMOKE REPORTED. THE REMOVED UNIT SHOWS WEAR ON THE ARMATURE AND GENERATED EXCESSIVE HEAT DURING OPERATIONAL CHECKS. THE UNIT WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED. GROUND RUN-UPS AND OPS CHECKS WERE PERFORMED AND FOUND SATISFACTORY FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
Part: CHAIN — BROKEN (NLG RETRACT) · airframe 14,044 hrs · 13,696 cycles
PILOT DID NOT RECEIVE NOSE DOWN AND LOCKED LIGHT ON APPROACH, ATTEMPTED EMERGENCY EXTENSION, NO CHANGE. FLEW BY TOWER AND VERIFIED THAT NOSE GEAR WAS NOT EXTENDED. LANDED AT MWC WITH MAIN GEAR EXTENDED AND NOSE RETRACTED. MECHANICS NOTED THAT NLG RETRACT CHAIN BETWEEN GEARBOX AND CROSSOVER WAS BROKEN CAUSING FAILURE OF GEAR TO EXTEND.
Part: CONTROL ROD — BENT (AILERONS) · airframe 6,025 hrs
BOTH AILERON CONTROL TUBES P/N 50-521128-12 WERE BENT AND DISTORTED. REMOVAL OF TUBES FROM BELLCRANK AND AILERON NECESSARY FOR INSPECTION. SUSPECT DAMAGE INCURRED DUE TO GUST LOCK NOT BEING USED.
Part: BELLCRANK — FAILED (NLG WW)
THE BELLCRANK FAILED ALONG FORK BOLT MOUNTING HOLE. THIS IS THE ADJUSTING POINT FOR DOWNLOCK OVERCENTER TENSION. UPON INSTALLATION OF NEW PART, OVERCENTER TENSION WAS CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE NORMAL. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED UPON LANDING. NO FURTHER DEFECTS NOTED.
