DURING NORMAL STARTUP AFTER N1 REACHED 67% AND THE GENERATOR SWITCH WAS TURNED ON. THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL OF BURNED RUBBER, AND THEN SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT FROM THE COCKPIT AREA. I IMMEDIATELY HAD THE CREW EVACUATE AND SHUTDOWN THE ENGINE.
DURING CLIMB OUT THE AIRCRAFT HAD SIGNIFICANT INCREASED RIGHT CYCLIC PRESSURE THAT SUDDENLY RELEASED CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO SLIGHTLY JOLT TO THE RIGHT. THE FLIGHT WAS ABORTED AND AIRCRAFT SAFELY LANDED BACK AT BASE.
IN FLIGHT, APPROX 10 MINUTES AFTER TAKEOFF, AT CRUISE STRONG FUMES OF ELECTRICAL/PLASTIC BURNING SMELLED IN THE COCKPIT. TURNED ECS OFF, OPENED WINDOW. NO OTHER INDICATIONS OF ELECTRICAL FIRE. REMAINED APPROX 28.4V, 30A WITH ECS OFF (L SL ON FOR BIRD MITIGATION). FUMES DISSIPATED WHILE ECS OFF. RETURNED TO BASE, LANDED AS SOON AS PRACTICAL.
