SEARCHLIGHT WAS REMOVED FROM ANOTHER ACFT AND SENT IN FOR REPAIR TO CORRECT A ''STUCK ON - LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF" PROBLEM. UNIT WAS REPAIRED AND INSTALLED ON N127LN, 7 HOURS PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE EVENT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM - LIGHT IS STUCK IN THE "ON" POSITION AND WILL NOT EXTINGUISH WITH THE SWITCH. SWITCH WAS TROUBLESHOT AND FOUND TO FUNCTION PROPERLY.
ENGINE CHIP LIGHT AFTER TAKEOFF. WARNING LIGHT DID NOT EXTINGUISH, LANDED AT DOWNTOWN STL BASE, CALLED MECHANIC. MECHANIC FOUND METAL FLAKES ON LOWER ELECTRIC CHIP PLUG, AND NUMEROUS CHIPS/FLAKES IN OIL FILTER. TROUBLE SHOOTING FLOW CHART INDICATED MOCULE REPLACEMENT. ENGINE MUST BE EXAMINED TO DETERMINE SPECIFIC COMPONENT CAUSING DIFFICULTIES.
ON DEPARTURE, AT CRUISE, FLIGHT CREW DETECTED A HOT BURNING ODOR. FLIGHT WAS ABORTED AND ACFT RETURNED TO BASE. MECHANIC CALLED. UPON REACHING CRUISE, FLIGHT CREW NOTICED HOT BURNING ODOR; ACFT RTB FOUND WINDSHIELD HEAT CONTROL KNOB IN THE OPEN POSITION; CLOSED VALVE, OPS NORMAL ON SUBSEQUENT RUNS AND FLIGHT.
